She was dizzily shoved away from the incoming blade and, rolling in several circles hit the wall, stunning herself. She heard raised voices arguing but it all seemed like goo-goo land to her stunned brain. She was roughly pulled up and shoved into the cot room and she heard the door slam behind her. (If it's possible to slam a door as light as the branch woven door) she felt her face and looked down at her hand to see gashed where the glass had scratched. She winced. Those were going to leave a mark. They stung but as she held them to her side she felt the pain receding. She sighed in relieve and looked back at her hands.
"Wha...how?" Her hand were completely healed. "I could've sworn..." She shrugged it off because at the moment Phang was just waking up from his long "nap". He blearily rubbed his eyes and looked around. Upon seeing his whereabouts he leapt up and assumed a defensive position. He relaxed when he saw it was only her. She stood, shaking off all signs of dizziness. She quickly filled him in on all that just happened.
"So there's a maniac with a knife in that room?" He asked.
"Yes." she replied.
"My specialty!" He answered with relish. He kicked open the door and walked into the room, Altima close behind. What they saw was not what they expected. Instead of two people fighting there was instead two people sitting next to the case that had shattered. The first she recognized as Katimo but the second she had never seen before. They both stood up at the return of Phang and Altima.
Katimo suddenly bowed his head at Altima and began apologizing profusely.
"I'm so, so sorry, I swear I didn't know...I'm sorry." He said earnestly.
"It's...fine." Altima said startled and confused at the change of heart. "Tell you what, I'll consider the debt repaid if you tell me what the heck is going on!?"
The second man was focused on Phang. "The great spirits spoke of you..."
Katimo focused his worried face into a smile and pointed at the sword. "This is Aepero. This sword was the created by the Wolfsons finest blacksmiths and enchanted by their finest elders. It's name means Unknown death in old language. The Unknowns strived to destroy it but it's power was too great. So they broke it into three pieces. I know not how you obtained yours but ours was obtained as a reward from an arena battle that was won by him. He gestured to the man sitting beside him.
"Wait, who is that guy? Altima asked
Katimo smiled at the other person and said, "I'll let him explain that."
The other person grunted and started to explain. He was a scruffy man that looked a bit like Phang only older. Unlike Katimo, he did not have a long beard but had hair all over his face and was a little shaggy.
"My name is Klauw, the Wolfson." At this Phang gasped but then was silent." I am one hundred and thirty three years old. A long time ago I was one of the clans prized warriors, I trained youngsters like you and was very happy. Then the Unknowns attacked. We had no choice but to flee. Many of us were captured or killed in those woods. I remember the day it was happening. I was talking to the chief about a new and better training routine when he heard the alarm. He ran out and I was left in his room. Suddenly I felt drawn to something. Like...someone had an invisible rope around me and was slowly pulling me in. Something told me I needed to pull a specific book down and I touched one. No. The voice told me. I touched another one with the same result. Then, I let the voice guide me. It guided me to an old looking book that had dust coving the surface. Nobody had touched it in a while. I pulled on it and the book flipped out to become a wheel. I started twisting it. It was extremely hard but I was strong enough to finish. The wall slid away to reveal a behind secret passageway. I heard something pulling at the door. My nose immediately gave me a warning sign. A gnarled, three fingered hand reached around the door, ominously pulling it back. Unknown. I bounded down the passageway as fast as I could. There was nothing in this blank room but a bag. I ripped it open and I found the clans most treasured possession, the rainbow jewel. Suddenly several Unknowns whirled into the hallway. I didn't know how or why thy got in here but I didn't care. I quickly grabbed the rainbow jewel and set my jaw. No Unknowns were getting our rainbow jewel. They attacked me, and right before the rainbow jewel was wrenched out of my grasp the transformation of power from the jewel to me was complete. The Unknowns didn't survive the encounter. I fled into the woods, knowing that the Unknown king would never get the jewel thanks to me." He finished, sounding proud. I still have it to this day. He reached into his pocket and drew out a device. It was not a big device. About as big as an oak leaf. He stuck his finger in a hole on the side of the device and twisted. It opened, revealing a stone.
"Wow"...breathed Phang. He looked overwhelmed. Seeng his clans rainbow jewel clearly brought tears to his eyes.
"Yes, I miss the days I trained great warriors from young Wolfsons." He said sadly.
"You trained people? Are you good at fighting?" In a blink of an eye, faster even, he covered the distance between them and hit her on her temple. Not hard, more of a cuff a teacher might give to a pupil. Before she even registered the pain he was back in his original position. She rubbed her head in a thoughtful way and answered herself. "That would be a yes, I suppose..."
Phang was still in shock. "He bowed deeply to him and asked him a question that would change both of their lives.
"Will you train me as your apprentice?"
"...yes."
