Chapter 2: A troublesome Bussiness Man.
DAVID POV
I woke up before dawn, preparing for another grueling day as CEO of Vidrates. My name is David Wilson, and my life is defined by wealth and emptiness. My parents, Scarlet and Michael, prioritize money over their children's well-being.
As I entered the kitchen, my maid served me breakfast, knowing I wouldn't touch it. My brother, Daniel, walked in, concern etched on his face.
"You're not eating again," he said.
"I know," I replied curtly.
Daniel persisted, "That's not healthy."
I cut him off, irritated. "Spare me the advice."
Daniel sighed. "You need someone to change your life."
"I'm focused on work," I countered.
Daniel shook his head. "Work, always work."
I bid him farewell and left for the office.
Upon arrival, I visited my parents, who resided separately from us. Their anger was palpable.
"What's wrong?" I asked, emotionless.
"If you'd completed that project, we wouldn't be in this mess!" my father bellowed.
"What do you mean?" I asked, disappointment creeping in.
"You lost us millions! You ungrateful brat!" he shouted.
"I did my best too" I yelled back.
My mother intervened by slapping me, "How dare you yell at your father!"
I protested, "But-"
She cut me off. "Can't you show gratitude?"
Silence followed.
My father issued an ultimatum: "Five days. Return our losses, or face consequences."
With that, they departed, leaving me reeling.
I sat alone, envying happy families. Why couldn't I have that?
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes.
"Why is my life like this?" I whispered.
The emptiness consumed me.
