Jungwon was no longer the naive, carefree boy who once thought the world was a fair place. Six years had passed since the day he walked into his home and found his family slaughtered. Six years since he had screamed for them to wake up, only to be met with the cold silence of death. He had left that boy behind, buried him with his family. In his place stood an assassin, forged in pain, anger, and the relentless pursuit of revenge.

The man who had found Jungwon in that funeral house all those years ago had become both his savior and his curse. He was a man who had seen something in Jungwon’s eyes that day something desperate, raw, and full of potential. He had taken the boy under his wing, offering him what Jungwon had thought was salvation. A place to live, food to eat, and most importantly, the skills he needed to exact his revenge.

Training had been brutal. Each day was a test of endurance, strength, and willpower. The man Jungwon had never learned his name, simply calling him "Master" had pushed him to his limits and beyond. Broken bones, torn muscles, and bruises became as familiar to Jungwon as his own breath. But with every setback, every moment of doubt, the image of his family’s lifeless bodies pushed him forward.

Jungwon became a ghost in the underworld. A young assassin with a cold, unflinching gaze, taking out targets with a precision that left no room for mercy. He only targeted those he deemed evil criminals, corrupt officials, anyone who preyed on the innocent. It was his way of justifying the blood on his hands, though deep down, he knew it was all a means to an end. A way to hone his skills until he was ready to face the man he hated most in this world: Park Jaehee the mafia boss of Dark Moon. The man who had taken everything from him.

But revenge was not simple. Park Jaehee was a man surrounded by layers of protection, untouchable by ordinary means. Jungwon knew he had to be strategic, patient. He couldn’t just storm in and expect to survive. To truly make Park Jaehee suffer, he needed to strip him of everything he held dear, piece by piece.

And that meant starting with his only son Park Jay.

Jungwon had heard plenty about Park Jay an heir molded in the same ruthless image as his father. Jay was feared and respected in the underworld, known for his cold demeanor and deadly skills. But behind that reputation, Jungwon suspected there was something more. Perhaps a loneliness, a vulnerability that even someone like Jay couldn’t completely bury.

And Jungwon planned to exploit that.

Their first meeting wasn’t the grand, dramatic showdown Jungwon had envisioned during his years of training. Instead, it was almost anticlimactic. Jay was out late, alone a rare sight for someone of his status. The night was thick with mist, the kind that swallowed up sound and made everything feel distant, disconnected.

Jungwon watched from the shadows as Jay moved through the dimly lit streets, his expression unreadable, hands shoved in the pockets of his coat. He seemed lost in thought, or perhaps just lost in the emptiness that consumed him. There was no entourage, no bodyguards just a solitary figure navigating the darkness.

A perfect opportunity.

Jungwon stepped out from the shadows, his footsteps deliberately loud enough to catch Jay’s attention. The mafia heir stopped, his head tilting slightly as he registered the presence behind him. He didn’t turn around immediately, instead, he spoke with a voice that was smooth, yet carried an edge sharp enough to cut through steel.

“You’re either really brave or really stupid to approach me like this,” Jay said, finally turning to face Jungwon. His eyes were dark, calculating, but there was a flicker of something else there too curiosity, perhaps.

“Probably both,” Jungwon replied, a smirk tugging at his lips. “But I like to think I’m just determined.”

Jay’s eyes narrowed slightly, and for a moment, the two stood in silence, sizing each other up. Jay wasn’t used to being approached so boldly, especially not by someone who looked as young as Jungwon. But there was something about the other boy that set him on edge a certain confidence, or maybe it was the way he didn’t flinch under Jay’s gaze.

“You don’t look like someone who wants to die tonight” Jay remarked, his tone laced with dark humor.

Jungwon chuckled, though there was no real mirth in the sound. “That’s funny, because I was just thinking the same about you.”

Jay raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite himself. “What’s your game? You looking to make a name for yourself by taking me down?”

“Not exactly” Jungwon said, his expression turning serious. “I’m looking for something a little more personal.”

That piqued Jay’s interest. Personal? This wasn’t just another wannabe trying to climb the ranks by offing a big name. This was someone with a grudge someone who knew exactly who Jay was and what he represented.

“And what would that be?” Jay asked, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous tone.

Jungwon’s eyes flashed with a mix of anger and determination. “I want to destroy everything you love. Everything that makes you human. I want you to know what it feels like to have everything ripped away from you.”

Jay’s expression didn’t change, but there was a shift in his posture a subtle tension that hadn’t been there before. “You think you can get to me?” he asked, almost amused by the idea. “Do you even know who you’re dealing with?”

“Oh, I know exactly who I’m dealing with,” Jungwon said, taking a step closer. “The question is, do you?”

There was a moment of silence, the air thick with the weight of their words. Then, Jay did something unexpected he laughed. It wasn’t a mocking laugh, but one filled with genuine amusement, as if he had just heard the punchline to a joke only he understood.

“You’ve got guts, I’ll give you that,” Jay said, shaking his head slightly. “But if you’re planning on taking me down, you’d better be ready for the fight of your life.”

“I’ve been ready for a long time,” Jungwon replied, his voice steady. “I’ll see you around, Park Jay.”

And with that, Jungwon turned and disappeared back into the shadows, leaving Jay standing alone in the mist. The encounter had been brief, but it left Jay with a strange feeling a mix of unease and excitement. He couldn’t help but wonder who this strange boy was, and what had driven him to seek out someone like Jay.

As Jay stood there, watching the spot where Jungwon had vanished, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. A prelude to something much bigger, much darker. And for the first time in a long while, Jay felt a spark of something he hadn’t felt in years an emotion that had almost died out in him.

Interest.

Little did he know that this brief encounter would set off a chain of events that would bring both of their worlds crashing together, forcing them to confront the very things they had spent their lives running from and in the end, only one of them would emerge victorious if either of them survived at all.
