Once more, she has refused to eat.

It's quite worrying, really. This sudden hunger strike is bound to damage her body.

The dinner he had prepared especially for her has been left to go cold. The meat has lost it's tenderness and the roasted vegetables are now chewy.

How can he remedy this?

"Mon cher," He gently began. "Why do you do this? Not to your liking,I suppose?"

She laid over the bed, huddled under the sheets for comfort within the cold room. She doesn't even bother turning to face him,it's certain to him that she wishes to avoid him.

He stepped closer, his far taller figure leaning over her as he sat by the edge of the bed. His long dark fingers curled around her hair, now soft as silk under his care.

"Do not make me force you,I do not enjoy-"

"Then what are you doing to me now?!"

Her sudden outburst had Adelard paused in his actions to smooth out her hair. The face she looked at him with,he knew she did not wish to stay within the gilded cage he's made for her.

But alas, the Night Dweller had long lost his heart to her.

"I am sick of being stuck here! I want to go back home,I want to see others besides you!"

She grabbed the pillow and threw it at him, knowing it won't do much. She just wanted out,out of this cage and these silks that coated her body, the shimmery jewelry he kept her adorned with-a mark of his ownership.

Facing a creature as mysterious as him took guts and she was losing it,losing her sanity by seeing the same walls before sleeping and waking up.

"My dear-"

"Leave me alone!" She slapped his hand away, stroming away to the window where she usually spent her time gazing out, resting her arms on it with her head buried in.

Her shoulders shook and he knew she was sobbing, trying her best to keep quiet.

It hurt to see her like this. He only ever wished to keep her safe and content with the finest of the fine.

But....why isn't it enough?

Is it because he is not a human? His humanoid face and structure with the mix of a deer not matching her preferences?

Does she desire the embrace of a human man instead?

Adelard was no fool,he knew he was different. Being the monarch of the Night Dwellers,he had bedded many women of his kind during his eternity long reign.
