So I'm running through this forest right? tripping on acid.
I meet this rabbit with a specs and a black top hat or something a rather.
He says to me "where in the bloody hell are you going?"
I say "I don't have a destination,"
His whiskers flick as he asks me another question: "Are you stupid? why the fuck are you running then?"
"I have to escape,"
"Escape what?"
"My mind of course"
He sighs "no one can escape dear, were stuck in this madness for life."
Again I'm kinda tripping, so I ignore it and keep running.
I see something in my path, it looks odd.
But then again everything looks weird when your on acid.
I stop just before stepping on the thing. It's a caterpillar.
"Hello, I need to continue down here will you please move aside" I say as he smokes his pipe.
"Why are you in such a hurry Alice?" he rumbles through the smoke.
"I need to escape,"
"Just forget about it."
"I can't just forget, it's my mind"
"Just forget about it man"
"Please move I need to leave"
He doesn't move.
I get sick of waiting and I leap over him. He yells down the path
"Just forget about it!"
I run for quite a while, not stopping once.
I stumble across a cat this time.
Very fat and smiley. he jumps in front of my path.
"Hello love" says the cat.
"Hi"
"Why are you running?"
"I have to escape, my -"
"Your mind, I know I know. I've heard it a thousand times."
"Okay, so how do I get out?"
"Keep going down the path, as fast as you can."
"Okay, then what."
"You'll come to a cliff, and it's simple after that."
"I jump?"
"That is correct love."
Thanks. I don't question it and keep running.
I see the clearing where the cliff should be, when a male voice calls out.
"Hey! Hey you!"
I turn while running and see that he's trying to get my attention.
I see the cliff maybe 20 feet ahead and bolt.
The edge approaches as the mans voice gets louder.
I jump.
My world morphs from a forest and cliff clearing to the roof of a building.
And the man looking at me from the top is my father.
And that was my trip.
Meeting the cast of Alice in Wonderland.
It was fun being the star for once, you see.
I'm but a character in your story book, not real.
I'm the meaning between the lines,
The message.
I'm the torn out library pages, because I'm so special.
I'm a character all right... a dead one.
I'm a message all right... don't jump off a building.
I'm torn all right... my heart and mind are ripped in half.
But I'm no longer anything, but dust swept across the city streets.
