The sun peeked over the rooftops, sending soft rays of light through the bedroom window as the alarm clock buzzed loudly. Lily's eyes fluttered open, and a mix of excitement and nerves washed over her.

Today was the day-her first day at her new school. She had spent the past few days preparing, but now that the moment was here, a knot formed in her stomach.

"Rose , breakfast is ready!" her mother's voice called from downstairs.

She slowly got out of bed, dragging her feet as she changed into her new outfit-carefully picked out the night before

She slowly got out of bed, dragging her feet as she changed into her new outfit-carefully picked out the night before.
A black dress with white flowers in it and paired with her favorite sneakers, was what she hoped would make a good first impression. After brushing her hair and giving herself a pep talk in the mirror, she headed downstairs.

In the kitchen, her parents were waiting for her with encouraging smiles. Her dad, Mark, gave her a thumbs up, while her mom, Claire, set a plate of pancakes on the table.

"Nervous, sweetheart?" Claire asked, noticing the hesitant look on Rose's face.

"A little," Rose admitted, fiddling with her fork. "What if no one likes me?"

"Don't worry," Mark said with a reassuring grin. "You've already got one friend at school, remember?"

Just then, the doorbell rang, and Rose 's face brightened. She didn't need to guess who it was. Rushing to the door, she opened it to find Ryan standing there with his backpack slung over one shoulder, a big grin on his face.

"Ready, partner?" he asked, holding out his hand.

Rose's worries eased a little as she took his hand. "Ready."

The walk to school was filled with Ryan's chatter as he excitedly told her all about the different classes, the playground, and the teachers. "You're gonna love Mrs. Thompson," he said. "She's super nice, and she lets us do art projects on Fridays. Oh, and there's this huge slide at recess-you have to try it!"

Rose nodded, smiling, but deep inside, the nervousness still lingered. She clutched the straps of her backpack tightly as they approached the school gates, where crowds of kids were laughing, running, and greeting each other after the summer break.
