Anna awoke in a cold sweat. Her heart pounded furiously in her chest, and the dream that had felt so real just a moment ago began to dissolve into the fog of her consciousness. She glanced frantically at her hands—nothing. But as she turned her head, she saw a strange mark on the inside of her right wrist, resembling a burn. It glowed with a faint silver light.
"What the hell is this?" she whispered, trying not to succumb to panic. But memories of the dream overwhelmed her once more. Dark forests, a majestic castle on a hill, and a mysterious figure hidden in the shadows—all of it seemed so real.
Barely able to keep her hands from trembling, Anna got out of bed and walked to the window. Outside, darkness reigned, with only a thin crescent moon illuminating the road in front of the house. The Silver Moon, as it was called in these parts. Legend had it that every time the Moon grew especially bright, an ancient curse descended upon the world.
Anna shuddered as she heard a knock at the door. Who would knock at midnight? Her heart began to race again, but curiosity outweighed fear. She cautiously approached the door, held her breath, and gently cracked it open.
Standing on the threshold was a tall man with eyes as dark as night. His face was concealed by the shadow of a hood, but there was something captivating in his gaze that made Anna freeze in place.
"You're Anna, right?" his voice was deep, almost hypnotic.
She nodded, unsure of how to respond.
"My name is Kai," he continued. "I'm here to help you understand what's happening. And possibly save your life."
Anna blinked, trying to make sense of his words. He spoke with such certainty, as if he had known her for a long time. But that was impossible, wasn't it?
"I... I don't understand," she whispered, feeling a cold fear creeping down her spine. "Who are you?"
"All the answers lie in your dreams," Kai said, stepping forward. "You're connected to an ancient curse that has stretched through the ages. And only you can break it. But we need to hurry. Time is working against us."
Anna took a step back, clutching the hand that still bore the strange glowing mark.
"A curse?" her words echoed. "Why me?"
Kai smiled sadly and extended his hand to her, as if offering his help.
"You're special, Anna. But we need to hurry. Before it's too late."
She hesitated, unsure whether to trust this mysterious stranger or to run away. But something in his eyes, in his voice, told her that he was her only hope. And that her fate was tied to his more closely than she could have imagined.
Anna reached out, placing her hand in his, and felt a strange sense of confidence and strength envelop her. Perhaps he did have the answers she was looking for. Perhaps he was her only chance for salvation.
