Prologue
Growing up in Hawaii, life was like a dream. The warm sun, crystal clear waters, and breathtaking scenery were a normal part of everyday life. It was a place where people were always smiling, and the island was filled with happiness and joy. Crime was almost unheard of, and the community was tightly knit, with everyone looking out for each other. From playing on the streets until the street lights came on, to hula dancing with friends on the beach and going to Lū'au's with family. You could just be a tourist and come to Hawaii and be welcomed and recognized as one of our own. It was paradise on earth. It was home.
But then, one night, everything changed. The news of Jonathan Bennett's murder will soon spread like wildfire, and suddenly, the island will be filled with darkness and fear . The once vibrant and safe streets will now be filled with caution and suspicion. People will no longer smile when they pass by, no longer wave at the mailman, no longer let their children out on late nights, they will be scared of who they might be near. Scared of the unknown. And scared of the unthinkable. They will forever be scared and ready for anything constantly looking over their shoulders. terrified at the fact that there are shadows of evil in the corners of the island even when nobody's looking but someone is and someone knows their secrets. The sense of community and trust will shatter, and the island will never be the same again.
It will be a graphic and detailed reminder of how quickly life can change, and the impact one tragic event can have on an entire community. The innocence of childhood will be lost, and the island is plagued with fear and uncertainty. The once happy and carefree life will now be replaced with a constant reminder of the fragility of life. Once bonded together like family now ripped apart and angry. No one is safe, and everyone's a suspect. The once laughter filled island is now full of secrets and whispers. The island may have still been physically beautiful, but the sense of joy and safety is gone forever. Once paradise on earth. Is now a nightmare!
