She was just a child. Why would anyone want to HURT a child?
The thought was sickening to poor little Elizabeth.
The thought of how the demon had gutted people abdomens made twists and knots in her stomach.
Her tears shone blue over the full moon. She prayed the demon would stop chasing her.
For a moment, it was silent, a good sign but she was wrong.

'Eli..'

The dark vicious voice called out.

'Come out, come out, where ever you are!'

She wanted to curl up and just die there. She was tired of how life treated her so badly.
Why couldn't she just have a normal life? With a Mother and Father by her side, siblings and a house.
Normal stuffs, why demons?

'I wouldn't dare hurt you.'

It promised. She hate promises. Never benefitted from it. She got angry, how did her life turn to this?

'You know how much I care about thee'

The mentioning of 'thee' brought chills down her spine. She hated everything. Then she mumbled something. The demon turned, it slowly flew towards her.
It smiled, its terrible smile.
And then went blank.

Elizabeth was a happy fifteen years old who had a past she seemed to have forgotten.
She lived under foster care but the kind of care every kid wanted.
Usually, the father would be the bully in any sort of story but not this one. Her foster father loved her, adored her, made her smile.
While her mother was disgusted by her, irritated, like she should just fade away.

Though she didn't really care because she was moments away of leaving them to her new school where she would stay good four years.

As she approached the lawn, she stopped on her heels.
She feared her mother might react so she simply went in and hid the paper in her pockets.

"So any letter?" Her ruthless mother asked, Ruth.
"No, still no luck." Elizabeth answered in disappointment.
"Maybe you performed so badly at the trial exams that they didn't bother." She answered.
Elizabeth faced down and secretly sneered at her. Then she walked up to her room.

She got in and closed the door. She won't allow her 'mother' spoil her good vibes.

'Permission to kill her when you become a Nurse?' Melon asked in an angry tone.

'T-to harsh, b-break her left i-index f-f-finger' Elizabeth responded.

'I'll take it, best deal I ever had.' She said.

Elizabeth sat on her messy bed and opened the letter. Her eyes widened, she almost screamed.
She had gotten in.

She grabbed her IPhone and commanded Siri to call her best friend, Ehi.
"Come on! Pick up Ehi!" Elizabeth said in impatience.
'Cool down would you? Hey you didn't stammer!' Melon said.

"Shut up!" Elizabeth said.
"Woah, what'd I do?" Ehi asked.
"Oh not you, I GOT IN!" Elizabeth in excitement.
"Cool, well, as for me.." Ehi's voice trembled for a minute.
"Oh, Ehi, I-i'm s-so.." Elizabeth said, voice also trembling.
"I ALSO GOT IN!" Ehi said and burst into laughter.
"G-goodness Ehi, you s-scared the m-manure out of me!" Elizabeth said rolling her eyes while hearing the guffaw sounds made by Ehi.
"I so got you! Hey let's celebrate at the new canteen at the mall! My treat." She said.
"Okay, be t-there by F-five thirty, bye byyeee!" Elizabeth said.
"Byyeee bye!" Ehi responded.
They hung up at the same time.

'Gross, human teenagers' Melon said in disgust.

Elizabeth and Ehi has been friends since primary school. Ehi was a smart, unique girl who knew how to make someone laugh. She was half Jamaican and half Nigerian. Though both of them were quite different, they had a lot in common.
While Ehi had interest in painting, dancing, writing and drawing, Elizabeth had interest in researches, coding and hacking, and making 'terrible' experiments.
Ehi wanted to become an Art teacher at first but she changed her mind to become a full time writer and Elizabeth wanted to become a crazy Physiatrist but changed her mind to be a Nurse.
So by the time they were done with year seven and eight, they decided to both enroll in the same boarding school.

Elizabeth was grateful at the thought but something about her mother didn't make her feel comfortable.

'No worry Lizzy, I won't make her harm you! Just know that!' Melon said.

Suddenly Elizabeth felt nothing but relief. Then, there was a knock on the door, her father.
"Hello biscuits." He said and waved to her.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you the honest truth." Elizabeth said.
"I know, I kind of over heard you but no worry, I wouldn't tell your mother, it's five sixteen, don't wanna keep Ehi waiting." He said and smiled.

He was a sweetheart.
