Leila took a deep breath as Gabriel offered his arm, leading into the wedding venue. They were about to put on a show and she wasn't sure if she was ready.
As they entered, Leila's eyes scanned the room, locking into Ethen's smug face. He was standing at the altar, his new bride by his side. Leila's stomach twisted with a mix of emotions but Gabriel's reassuring squeeze on her hand kept her grounded.
"Remember, we're in this together," Gabriel said, his voice barely above a whisper and confident.
Leila nodded, her eyes crinkling into a smile. They made their was through the crowd, exchanging air kisses and pleasantries with the guests. Gabriel played his part perfectly, charming everyone with his easy smile.
As they reached the front row, Ethen's eyes narrowed, his gaze flicking between Leila and Gabriel. Leila could almost see the wheels turning in his head, trying to figure out who this new man was and why Leila was with him.
The ceremony began and Leila tried to focus on the words but her mind kept wandering back to Gabriel. Who was this stranger who agreed to pretend to be her fiance? And why did she feel a spark of attraction whenever their eyes met?
As the newly Weds exchanged their vows, Gabriel leaned in close, his voice barely audible. "You know, Leila, I think we can make a pretty good team."
Leila's heart skipped a beat. Was he just playing the part or did he really mean it?
