"And anyone who ever had a heart
Or sang a lonesome song,
Would sell their little souls
Just to make it with the blonde."Rounding the corner of the butchers, I keep myself alert. Joseph had phoned me this morning, telling me he'd wait near there. Looking around myself, I headed down the small road, hearing a sudden whisper.
"Here."
Turning my head, I notice Joseph stood against a wall, cigarette in hand. Oh, how he looked like a French movie star.I couldn't help but laugh.
"Are you hiding now?" Teasing him I walk over to him as we lean against the wall together. My eyes staring up into his eye.
"Shush." Joseph playfully shoves me as I give him the finger.
"So, how have you been?" I ask, staring as Joseph hands me the cigarette for a quick toke- I was for sure going to be an addict soon.
"Fine, my mom is still really annoying. Always asking about you."
A smile breaks out on my lips,
"I literally love your mother.""Disgusting."
"What. Now you know damn well I didn't mean it like that." I give Joseph a mock look of outrage.
"Hey, say a number on the count of 3." Joseph suddenly demands, looking down at me fully now.
Before I could even question him, I tilt my head.
"1,2...3!"
"7!" Joseph and I exclaim at the same time, laughing, his hand caressing my arm softly. Leaning down to me,he kisses me gently. Smiling, we both pull back from the kiss. I can't stop laughing, Joseph's touch making me such a childish mess.
Turning my head, my eyes lock in on Pichon. Joseph's eye does too. Joseph grabs my hand, his hand clasping onto my left one as we head towards Pichon.
"Listen, Pichon. You tell anyone what you just saw, and you're not going to like what will happen to you." Joseph snarled at Pichon,(who I felt bad for if anything.)
"Descamps I promise I won't." Pichon quickly bows, his tone apologetic. "Goodbye Descamps, goodbye Enikő." Pichon hurries off.
Snickering slightly, I shake my head.
"You couldn't have been any more gentle?"
"I'm only gentle with you- you should know that by now." Joseph murmurs as we walk on towards school, hand in hand.
Rounding the corner of the gates, we let go. More people coming into view. I spot Pichon talking to Annick, who then turns and smiles at me as I mouth a 'sorry' and nod my head in Joseph's direction. Annick, understanding as ever, nods back as she faces Pichon again. Heading towards the bench Dupin, Vergoux and Joseph regulate. The only people I see are Dupin and his brother, Christian.
Furrowing my eyebrows, I look around.
"Where's Vergoux?"
"No idea." Joseph shrugs.
Standing in front of the bench, I watch as Joseph shakes hands with Dupin, well Jean, he calls him by his first name.
"Hi pretty, Enikő right?" Christian's voice snaps me back to reality.
"Mhm, nice to meet you again, Christian." I nod as I sit down on the bench because let's face it-my lazy ass was not going to stand up the whole time.
Christian sits down now too, beside me. He wraps his arm over my shoulder as he taps his foot.
