"What?" Aditi, clearly thinking she had misheard, asked, "Can you say that again?""I'm putting Bronze Heart up for auction tomorrow"
I repeated it slowly, my eyes welling up with tears."But why? It's your favorite piece of art-you said you'd never sell it." She locked her phone and directed her full attention to me as if the world had momentarily paused just for this moment.
"Change of heart," I said. Unsatisfied by my reason she hit me with a pillow.
"Change of heart bol rahi, main kya tujhe aj janti hoon kya Esha? Now tell me the real reason." She demanded not backing off.
I didn't want her to get worried.
"Nothing, I don't want to talk about it now," I said irritated.
"Okay, but you know I'm always there for you. You know that right?" She said assuring me.
"Yeah, I'll tell you everything but not now. I just wanted you to know that I'm selling it, not to keep you in the dark."
"Okay, babe I understand you." She pulled me into a tight hug.
We draped ourselves in blankets, shared a warm good night with sleepy waves, and drifted off, knowing that tomorrow held something big for me.
~As I woke up, I went through my morning routine, freshening up and taking a bath. Heading to the kitchen, I brewed myself a cup of coffee.
On the fridge, a note from Adi caught my eye:
*"You are strong. You should know that. Good luck."*A small smile tugged at my lips as warmth filled my heart.
As I browsed through my wardrobe, I opted for a classic look: a plain white shirt paired with bootcut grey jeans that hugged my curves perfectly.
To accessorize, I chose a rose gold Casio watch, golden hoop earrings, and a delicate golden chain. For makeup, I kept it minimal-lots of blush, a mauve lipstick, and a touch of gloss to finish the look.
I headed down to the studio in my basement, carefully retrieved the art piece, and placed it in the passenger seat of my AMG. Then, I drove to the Serene Auction House.
"Serene Auction House only accepts unique pieces, whether it's jewelry, fashion, or art. It can be difficult to get accepted by them."
"Sunaina Malhotra, a jewelry designer and Aditi's mother, is the epitome of grace. She selects the pieces she likes after our presentation."
She accepted my art piece, saying that its beauty was so captivating, that it felt like gazing into your own heart, transformed into a painting not because I'm her daughter's best friend.
