y/n's POV

"Oh I'm Y/n. Nice to finally meet you." I said as I held my hand out. She gently shook my hand before sitting down. "It is nice to meet you too, Five has mentioned your name a few times. Is that blood?" she asked, looking worried. "It's nothing," he said. "Why are you guys here?" Vanya asked. Five sighs, "I've decided that you're the only one I can trust." "Why me?" She asked. "Because you're ordinary." Five said and I lightly snacked his shoulder. "Ouch." He said rubbing the area I hit. Vanya looked down. "It is because he knows you will listen." I spoke for him. "Okay." Vanya then walked away. She came back a second later with some gauze pads, peroxide and a couple wraps. Five and I folded and pushed our sleeves up so Vanya could tend to our wounds. Wounds we made ourselves. Vanya began on Fives cut first. "When I jumped back forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?" "No." Vanya said. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing. As far as I could tell, I was the last person left alive. I never figured out what killed the human race, but I did find something else. The date it happens." Five paused, thinking about what life was like when he first traveled to the future. "Vanya, the world is ending in 8 days and we have no idea how to stop it." "Let me go start a pot of coffee." Vanya said after a moment of silence and then walking away. "God I could kill for some more coffee, I never even got to finish mine earlier at the diner. Such bullshit, always dragging me into shit." I teased Five and he laughed. A few minutes later Vanya came back with a cup of coffee for each me and Five. "Any cream or sugar?" She asked us. "No thanks five said. "I'll take a shot of both please." She nodded and went to grab some. "Thanks Vanya." "Ofcourse." After we sat there in silence, Five finished his coffee and Vanya finished cleaning my cut. "I survived on scraps. Canned food, cockroaches, really anything I could find." Five looked down and then at Vanya, I could tell that this subject was really hard on him, I held his arm and leaned onto him to let him know I'm here for comfort. "You know that rumor that twinkies have an endless shelf life? Well it's total bullshit." He continued. "I can't even imagine what that was like." "You learn quickly that you need to learn to do whatever it takes in order to survive or you die. So we adapted. Whatever the world threw at us, we found a way to overcome it." "We?" She asked. "You got anything stronger for us?" Five asked and we all made our way and stood in the kitchen. Vanya pours us each a glass. Five drank his all in one go. As much as I wanted this drink and needed it, I needed to put this baby first. You held onto the glass before handing it over to Five. "I don't feel like drinking right now, plus someone's gotta take care of you." I said. "Since when are you Turing down a drink?" He questioned, knowing something was up. "It's nothing, don't worry love, I just am not in the mood. A lot is going on, okay?" "Whatever you say." He said before quickly chugging your glass. That was a close one, I thought. "Do you think I'm crazy?" Five asked Vanya. "No. Its just.. a lot to take in you know?" "Exactly what don't you understand." "Why didn't you just yoke travel back?" Vanya says and Five scoffs at her comment. "Gee, I wish I woulda thought of that. Time travel is a crapshoot. I went into the ice and never acorned. You think that I didn't even try everything to get back to my family?" "But if you grew old in the apocalypse, why do you still look like a kid?" Vanya asks. "Vanya I told you already. I musta got the the equations wrong." "Damn right I said.", I kept telling him the decimal was in the wrong spot. With me, it was uncontrollable, the handler must have put the wrong code or when she gave it to me to keep. "I mean, Dad always used to say that time travel could mess up your mind. Maybe that's what is happening?" Vanya said. "This was a mistake, you are too young, too naive to understand." Five said, grabbing our things and my hand before attempting to walk away. This was his doing not mine. "No. Five.. y/n please. Guys wait" Vanya called out and we paused before opening the door. "Wait please, Five, I haven't seen you in a long time and I don't wanna lose you again. That's all." She said "And you know that it is getting late, and I have lessons and I need to sleep and I'm sure you both do too. Here" she said, grabbing a few pillows and blankets and put them on the couch. "We will talk again in the morning. Okay? I promise you guys. Night." She said and walked away into her bedroom. Five then sat down on the couch playing with the eye he had from his pocket. "It's gonna be okay." I said, trying to reassure him that we can do this together. He looked up at the ceiling and I played with my ring on my finger. When should I tell him? I snapped back to relaying when I saw him standing up. "We aren't staying here?" I asked and then grabbed his hand. "Nope." He said and spatial jumped us out of vanya's apartment. I looked down at our clothes. "Five we need to wash this all off." "Okay love, let's go back to the academy." He said, and we called out for a taxi. One pulled over and we got in. "Where to?" The driver asked. "The umbrella academy please." I said "alright."
