"A Question Worth Asking"

5 Years Later...

Soobin was the first to arrive. It had been a while since he's seen his friends, but he wasn't bothered. They've kept well in touch since their days at TIOT. The place busy with its current inhabitants roaming around & practicing magic contently. He waited  at the entrance for his other friends for a few minutes. Kai was the first to arrive after him. "수빈이 형! 잘 지냈어요?"(Soobin hyung ! How have you been ?)

Soobin responded just as enthusiastically.  "I have been well. How about you ?" Over the years all of their magic got stronger with practice. Same could be said for their inherited abilities. "I  have been good as we--", Kai was abruptly cut off as Beomgyu came running towards them screaming. 

"Beomgyu !" Soobin yelled as Beomgyu hugged him & Kai cheerfully. "보고 싶었다고요?"(Missed me ?) It was a simple question Beomgyu asked, but it was answered quickly. It had been a while since they've all been in the same place. How could they not miss their friend ? It wasn't long before Taehyun arrived as  well. All heading towards the clearing...

Walking in hit them with a wave of nostalgia. Being at the TIOT held great memories for them, but there was something they felt they were actively not remembering. They went to the temple of the five they used to frequent when they attended TIOT when Jin-Su greeted them. "다시 오신 것을 환영해요!" (Welcome back !) Kai was the first to notice a sixth statue in the temple. It stood a little behind the statue for the deity Fox. "Who is this statue for ? I thought there were only five deities." Jin-Su nodded confirming what Kai said as he cleaned the statues. "Yeonjun, a minor deity under Fox. He is a nine tailed fox who was added fairly recently."

Taehyun looked confused. As far as he knew there were no minor deities. So why does this exist ? "If it is recent, how come we've never heard of this sixth minor deity ?" Jin-Su sighed as he gestured to the four before him with an annoyed expression, "정말 기억이 안 나요? 연준이가 친구였는데..." (Do you really not remember him ? Yeonjun was your friend...)

Jin-Su' tone increasingly got angrier as he pointed at Taehyun. "He almost killed you. You want me to believe you'd completely forget something like that ?" All were silent as the atmosphere got even more intense.

Everything shifted. The masks of forgetfulness were dropped in an instant. Soobin was the first to address Jin-Su apologetically, "We never meant to upset you. It was easier to live with the belief  that we weren't used to manipulate our friend at the request of a deity..." Taehyun spoke next but his sentiments weren't as remorseful as the rest of his friends, "Why should I apologize for wanting to forget ? Either way I nearly died because a deity wanted to play with us like mere toys for his amusement."

Jin-Su would've retorted with another answer when Yeonjun suddenly appeared. He was rather calm & looked a bit disheartened his friends felt it better to act as if he never existed within their lives, "적어도 여러분 모두는 자신의 기분에 대해 솔직하게 말하고 있는 것입니다. 저는 오래된 논쟁을 일으키려고 여기에 온 것이 아닙니다, 알겠지요? 저는 여러분 스스로에게 한 가지 질문만 하고 싶습니다." (At least you are all being honest in how you feel. I'm not here to stir up old arguments, okay ? I have just one question that I hope you'll ask yourselves.)

Kai & Beomgyu spoke simultaneously, their tones just as apologetic as Soobin' now that Yeonjun was before them in his immortal form. "What's the question, hyung ?"

Yeonjun smirked as his foxlike slit eyes roamed over his friends, "What would drive an immortal to use mortals as pawns ?" Referring to the small information of knowing the Eternal Council weren't always immortal deities before he disappeared once more.

Thus, leaving Soobin, Beomgyu, Kai, & Taehyun with their thoughts...
