ROSIE'S FEET SUBMERGED IN THE cool, clear water that gently lapped against her skin. The sun hung high in the sky, casting a golden light that shimmered across the water's surface, creating a dance of reflections that flickered in her eyes. She leaned back, resting her hands on the warm tiles, feeling the heat radiate through her palms. It was a comforting contrast to the crisp chill of the pool, grounding her at the moment, a small solace in the whirlwind of emotions that had been swirling inside her since she entered the villa.

The water caressed her calves, just below her knees, the sensation a mix of refreshing coolness and the faintest pull of the current, as if the pool itself were inviting her to slip further in, to let go of her thoughts and simply drift. But Rosie couldn't drift, not here, not now. Her mind was too busy, a flurry of questions and doubts, all tangled together in a knot that refused to loosen.
