"Hey Hey Hey!" Lucas sits in the table where Taylor is as he puts his lunch on it. "Why so grumpy?"

"Uh? What made you think I'm 'grumpy'?" She replied as she gestured quotation marks in the air, emphasizing the word.

"C'mon." He took a bite of his sandwich. "Does a face with an upside down smile and wrinkles all over its forehead look happy to you?"

No, but she didn't bother answering, the answer is quite - - - is really obvious.

"As I thought." He said, as if reading what's on her mind.

He took a sip from his juice. "C'mon, Alison. Tell me."

"What." And she made a genuinely fake smile, that one that no one might think there's sadness beneath it. After all, she managed hiding all her feelings.

"Can you - - -" Before Lucas finished his sentence, that familiar witch-like voice entered Taylor's ear changing her aura. Plus, she would be dealing not only with one bitch - yeah sorry - witch (although the first word defines her better.), not two, not three, but for god's sake, a dozen of them. Can you imagine a dozen of bitches, I mean girls, wearing the same damn clothes, same damn make-ups (that make their faces look like a coloring book of a preschooler rather than a head.), same gestures, and wait for it - same hairstyles, with the same hair dye. Although only three of them can speak, only the C's, as they call themselves, namely Cassidy, Cathy, and Caroline. You know, popularity stuff.

"Would you rather eat with us?" And by the time Cassidy said the last word, they gestured that paw-like movement in the air, scratching like cats (except that 1. they're not scratcing anything, 2. they're not cats and 3. they're not close, not EVEN close to cute (cats should be cute.)).

"But, Cassy, as you can see, I'm here with my friend." Lucas disagreed. And that word comes running through Taylor's mind. FRIENDS, can't they be more than that?

"Ah, Ye- - -" Cutting her response, Cassidy spoke again. "No. It will be definitely fine with her, right, sweetie?" How dare she call her sweetie? They're even close.

"Uhm. . . Yea- - -" And then she cut her off again. When will she let her finish her sentences?

"See? She's fine with it." Cassidy said as she turn to Lucas.

"You sure?" He tried to ask Taylor.

"Of course she is. Why wouldn't she. She's smart. She's a NERD, remember?" And by that time, the girls behind her giggle, shoving thousands of spikes in her heart. She did nothing but bow her head down. She knows she's a nerd but hearing someone state it is just, ugh. And take note, she can't do anything or else the whole school will be against her. The next thing she knows, she's alone again, hearing Cassidy and Lucas' voices fading as they walk farther. She wondered if maybe he would look back. Of course not! Why would he?

"Uhh. Hi." A voice make her get back to her senses. When she turn her head up, a boy is looking at her, smiling. "Can I sit here?"

"Uh. Yes. Go on." When did anyone want to sit with her? Never. When did anyone smiled at her? Double never. But wait a minute, who is he by the way?

"Nice meeting you. I'm Mark Anthony Montgomery. And you? By the way, you look kind of grumpy. " He said, offering his hand for a handshake.

"Uhm, Taylor, Taylor Alison Swift." She said while accepting it. "Call me whatever you like." She added, fixing her glasses. They then broke the handshake and continue eating.

"Uhm, Mark Antho- - -"

"Just call me Mike."

"You're a member of the varsity, right? It's not like I'm pushing you away or anything but why are you seating with me? I mean you're popular, and me?" Taylor then spoke and took a bite of her meal. She didn't really know who he is but seeing that jersey that he's wearing is a guarantee that he's one of the school's football player.

"Because why not?" He replied, sipping his juice. He's right. Someone might not bother about popularity. Why can't anyone be like him? "I don't care about the social ladder. One day would come and all of us would forget everything about it. It's just, for me, a childish thought. And I want to make friends with great people, like you."

"Uhm, Thank you." She said, almost blushing. "But I'm not a cheerlea- - -"

"C'mon." He cut her off. When will anyone let her finish any of her sentences? "You're that one who always gets to the top of every tests, right? You're awesome."

"Uh, thanks."

"Don't mention it. Just stating the facts here." He sat up and offer another handshake. "Friends?"

"Friends." She also sat up and took her bag and lunch tray.

"Hey. What's your next subject?" He grabbed his lunch tray.

"That one with Ms. Smith."

"That GUH-rumpy face all the time?"

"Um. . . Yes." She said, raising her eyebrows and smiling.

"Then let's just give these trays back to the cook and go together to our class since fortunately, that's also the next one. . ." He search for his schedule. ". . .Well according to my sched. Shall we?"

They then walk towards the cook. Taylor felt like someone's looking at her, she tried to turn around but Mike caught her attention.
