✦ "You're interested in joining a club?" Your homeroom teacher sat in her cubicle, fixing her glasses with a questioning look.

"Yes." You replied awkwardly. "I understand there are things I need to catch up on since I transferred late, but I was wondering if any extracurriculars are available...?"

"Well, you're right about the undone work." Your teacher said as he reached for a pile of papers. "Here, these are the club forms." He handed a sheet to you.

"Fill out whatever catches your eye; I heard you had quite a history with sports back in America! Maybe something like that would do? He suggested.

Oh. Of course, the teachers and faculty knew about activities from your old life. Though you suppose they weren't all bad, and you did enjoy what little sports you could do back in your childhood.

"If you want my recommendation," He went on, "I'd say join the girl's basketball team or look into the men's volleyball club. I heard they were lacking managers."

Unbeknownst to either of them, a curious girl was listening in on their conversation, hiding behind cubicles.

Men's volleyball? That was Osamu and Atsumu's club, wasn't it? Nobody could mistake their thing for anything else besides volleyball. They did have a reputation on the court, according to Atsumu.

"I think I'll go over to the men's volleyball club; thank you, sensei." You bowed politely as you made your way out of the faculty room.

"Clubs...clubs." You mumbled aimlessly to yourself as you scanned the sheet for something that might interest you.

"Um, excuse me!"

You heard a soft female voice call out behind you. Pausing to take a look around, you failed to find who the voice belonged to. Must've been someone else.

"Please wait!" You felt a sudden hand clasp down your shoulder. The sudden shock made you shriek as you darted away from whoever it was.

"A-ah! Gomen! I was just--I was trying to come after you.." The girl panted as she clutched her chest, exhausted.

You stood in front of her, still frozen from shock. A complete look of confusion and fear dawned on your features.

The girl before you looked much younger and smaller than you. A first-year, maybe? She had long blonde hair and hazel downturned eyes.

"I couldn't help but overhear your conversation with your sensei—something about looking for an extracurricular?" The girl regained her posture as she smiled nervously. "My name's Emi Anemone, the manager of Inarizaki High's volleyball team!"

"Anemone-san, did you need something from me?" You tilted your head.

"W-well, you mentioned your interest in our volleyball club, and sensei was right; our club may have strong players, but we're lacking in managers. I'm the only one handling various logistical tasks, keeping track of the team's schedule, and assisting with their needs during practice and matches."

She looked defeated and exhausted as she spoke. "Even though it's been half a semester, we're still looking for volunteers that, ah- let's just say, don't "quite" meet the criteria," she said sheepishly.

Damn, the other applicants must've sucked, huh.

"Anemone-san... I appreciate the offer, but truth be told, I'm unfamiliar with the rules of volleyball or handling logistics."

"Please Ichinose-san! We're in desperate need of an assistant manager!" She bowed.

To say you were surprised was an understatement. To see your underclassmen beg for your acceptance was something you never expected.

"U-uhh." You stammered, utterly confused about what to do. "Anemone-san, please don't bow like that, I feel bad.." You spoke that last part in English as you started to bow too.

"No! N-no, really, we'd love to have you on our team, please!" She bowed even lower.

Down the hall, your sensei watched, dumbfounded, as you and another student bowed deeply while exchanging apologies. "What the hell..."

By the end of the day, Anemone had successfully convinced you, with an overwhelming amount of begging, to join them for a day of practice. According to her, today they were holding a practice match with Fukurodani Academy. The idea intrigued you, but stepping into a new environment, especially one as intense as Inarizaki's volleyball team, was a bit daunting.

Apparently, being a top-tier school in Hyōgo Prefecture, they regularly practiced with other strong teams to maintain their high level of play.

The heavy double doors of Inarizaki's gym creaked as you pushed them open, a mix of anticipation and nerves churning in your stomach as you knew you'd be watching the Miya twins play again. The sound of shoes squeaking against the polished wooden floor and the sharp thud of volleyballs hitting the ground filled the air. The team was already deep into their warm-up routine.

As you stepped inside, the first person to notice you was Atsumu. His sharp eyes caught the two of you's presence immediately, and a wide grin spread across his face.

"Oi, look who showed up! Emi-san and..?" His face immediately brightened as he saw your smile, jogging over to you with that usual swagger in his step. "How goes, Mi-chan?"

You offered a small wave, feeling a bit out of place amidst the high-energy atmosphere. "Hey, Atsumu. I'm just here to watch today."

Atsumu's grin didn't falter. If anything, it grew more mischievous. "Just watchin', huh?"

Before you could respond, Anemone-san spoke up. "You two know each other? Ichinose-san agreed to watch our match against Fukurodani; if things go well, she might even become our assistant manager!" She beamed.

"If things go well, huh..." Atsumu raised an eyebrow as a smirk formed on his face. "Well then, Mi-chan, we'll have to be on our A-plus game today, won't we?"

Hearing the commotion, Osamu walked over, his expression more reserved but no less welcoming. "Mi-chan?" he acknowledged, his tone softer but sincere. "Atsumu's right, though. Once ya see us play, ya might change yer mind."

You couldn't help but smile at the way the twins contrasted each other—Atsumu, always brimming with energy and confidence, while Osamu balanced him out with his calm demeanor. It was easy to see how they complemented each other, both on and off the court.

"For now," you replied, trying to keep your tone light. "I'm still figuring things out."

Osamu leaned against the wall, arms crossed as he watched you. "No rush," he said, his voice steady and reassuring. "Take yer time. But just so ya know, we could use someone like ya around here."

Atsumu nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! It's more fun with ya here anyway. Plus, you'll get to see us in action up close. Trust me, we're a sight to behold."

You smiled, amused, shaking your head at his confidence. "You're really selling it, Atsumu."

"Course I am," he replied, confidence so strong it was radiating. "But I don't need to. Our skills'll speak for themselves."
