Note- this story is written in the POV of Lilah McCall

On the rural outskirts of a small California town called Beacon Hills, police cars and state trooper SUV's gather on a dirt road.

The Officers jump out, search dogs barking at their sides. One by one, the Officers click on flashlights, streaks of light tearing through the shadowy woods. A desperate search begins

Meanwhile

Scott's in his room re lacing both of your lacrosse nets for the first day of school

Melissa- I'm off to work you guys, dinner's in the fridge!
your mom shouts up to you and Scott.
You hear a huge crash coming from his room and make you way to see what's going on
You- what did you do?
Scott- umm, kinda broke the lampshade
Your mom walks in
Melissa- glues in the kitchen when you decide to fix that
Scott- thanks mom

Melissa- I thought you quit lacrosse?
Scott- I never quit. I just kind of never play ~shrugs~
Melissa- Have you thought about quitting?
You- mom?
Melissa- I just want him to be happy. High school should be fun. he should be out chasing girls, but not catching them, just chasing
You- gross mom ~you laugh~
Scott- Well, I'm not having much luck with that either
Melissa- okay, well I should go before I completely destroy your self esteem, don't worry. sophmore year is always better, I promise.

As she leaves, you help Scott pick up the last peices of the lamp so you can fix it at some point

You- she's right you know
Scott- about what?
You- sophmore year being better, I feel it
Scott- you and your feelings li ~laughs~

Just as you stand up to leave a loud cracking sound stops you in your tracks

Scott- what the hell was that?
You- I don't know

You both stand in silence

You- well, grab your bat and lets go?
Scott- okay okay! ~grabs his bat~

Both of you make your way downstairs and open the front door. Cautiously you make your way outside when something swings towards you from the roof of the porch

Stiles- AHHHHH
You- STILES?!
Scott- Stiles, what the hell are you doing?
Stiles- You weren't answering your phone.
You- oh yeah so hanging from our porch in the dark of night instead of knocking on the door was the only solution?
Stiles- I know it's late but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called, they're bringing in every officer from the Beacon department and even state police

Scott and you exchange confused but intrigued looks

Scott- for what?
Stiles- Two joggers found a dead body in the woods
You- A dead body? ~you cross your arms over your body~
Stiles- No, a body of water. Yes, dumbass, a dead body

You flip stiles off as he climbs down from the roof and stands infront of scott and you

Scott- You mean like murdered?
Stiles- Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties
Scott- Hold on, if they found the body
You- then what are they looking for now?
Stiles- That's the best part. They only found half.
You- your kidding?
Stiles- totally, so are you coming to see this thing or what?
Scott- I don't know
You- Scott, shut up and lock the door. we're going
Stiles- hey, little McCall talking sense for once

You hit stiles as you all go and get into the car and drive to the preserve

You- Stiles, were are your flashlights?
Stiles- in the boot

Stiles and you get the flashlights out and set off walking with Scott following behind sheepishly

Scott- Are we seriously doing this?
Stiles- You're the one who's always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town.
Scott- I was trying to get a good nights sleep for practice tommorow.
You- Right, because sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort
Stiles- okay miss 'im on the team' you don't get a say
You- but am I wrong
Stiles- no ~rolls eyes~
Scott- No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line
Stiles- That's the spirit. everyone should have a dream. Even a pathetically unrealistic one
