I slept still and waited for Dhruv to leave and close the door behind. Once he's out, I let out a huge breath and looked at the closed door.
My heart pounded in my chest. I had never heard anyone say those words to me before. It was both thrilling and terrifying.
I remembered the day Dhruv had first confessed his feelings for me. I had been so surprised and flattered. But I had also been hesitant. I was hurt in the past, and I am afraid of getting my hopes up again.
One thing I learnt from my life is that if it's too good to be true, then it might not be actually true.
Dhruv is patient and understanding. He gave me time to think and feel. He never pressured me or tried to force me into anything.
For once, I want to trust my heart. I want to take the leap and see where it takes me.
I get up and peek out of the window. I see the streets are still overflowing with water, but it'd stopped raining a long time ago.
I see Dhruv climb into his car and drive off. I lean on to the wall and take a deep breath.
