Back on the 2nd of February 2006, Ophelia was reading a book on her bed. It had been three months since Fives disappearance and she hadn't given up hope yet.

She was reading about time travel to see if there was any way to tell if he would come back. Her reading was abruptly cut short by the small ape arriving by her side.

"Miss Lopez, Sir Hargreeves has requested for you and Number Seven to meet him in the basement downstairs for some extra training" he informed her making her sigh.

"But we finished today's training, this is my free time" she told him placing her book down ready to comply anyway.

"He says if you're not there you get no free time tomorrow" Pogo sighed, "I suggest you listen to him" he frowned.

"I'll get Seven" she gave in and slid off the sofa heading to the girls room.

The sweet sound of the violin sounded through the door making Ophelia's face relax. "Hey Seven, that sounds so cool but dad needs us for training"

"Me? Why do I need to train?" She asked putting the violin down.

"No idea, I thought we were done for the day" she shrugged looking around her room.

"Do I just wear this?" She asked gesturing to her uniform she was wearing.

"I'd assume so, he didn't say it was combat training or anything" Ophelia said as they exited her room.

"Any luck on reading those books I got for you?" Vanya asked. She had snuck out while the others were on a mission to the library and taken some books for Ophelia.

"Nah not yet I'm sure he's fine" Ophelia sighed. She had this overwhelming feeling that something wasn't right. Five said he'd be back as soon as he could and she assumed it would've been sooner.

"Yeah" Vanya muttered.

"Your violin playing is really good by the way, I reckon you should go pro" Ophelia nudged her lightly.

"No way" she shook her head, "Dad would hate all that attention on me"

"Yeah well screw him" Ophelia smirked pushing open the heavy doors to the basement.

Reginald was stood with his back up them and he turned around with a watch in his hand. "Pogo and I spoke four minutes and twenty two seconds ago, how does it take that long for two children to be on time?" He asked hypothetically.

"There's lots of stairs" Ophelia nodded her head finding an excuse for the two of them.

"Why am I here dad?" Vanya asked.

"Good question, Number Seven" he pocketed the watch and walked toward them slightly. "Both of you, in there please" he gestures to a container with a glass panel in the door.

The two girls looked at each other before listening to the man. They stood inside and faced Reggie who was still outside. "Face each other" he ordered.

They took a step from each other and faced one another as Reginald stepped inside and handed Ophelia an open book, "Now cast this spell"

"What?" She asked looking to the words on the page trying to translate them in her head.

'𝔞𝔲𝔣𝔢𝔯 𝔢𝔱 𝔡𝔞 𝔪𝔦𝔥𝔦 𝔠𝔞𝔩𝔱𝔥𝔞'

"What's marigold?" Ophelia asked as the translation all puzzled together.

"Just cast the spell" Reginald announced as he slammed the door closed abruptly. It seemed like he was saying something else but the room was soundproof.

"What does the spell do?" Vanya asked attempting to step forward.

"Wait" Ophelia stepped away from her reading over the spell trying to figure out what it must mean.

"Phelia?" Vanya asked cautiously, "What does it do?"

"It takes out marigold and gives it to me?" She guessed, "What's marigold?"

"No idea" Vanya shrugged taking a step back.

Ophelia had read over the spell enough for it to be burned into her head so she closed the book and tossed it to the floor. "What are you doing, you're not actually gonna cast it are you?" Vanya asked.

"Sorry Vanya but it doesn't look like I really have any other option" she replied gesturing to the door, "plus, what's the worst that could happen?"

"Okay" Vanya breathed out shakily as she shook her arms out, "ready when you are"

Ophelia gave her a subtle nod before she closed her eyes and put her hands out for Vanya to take.

"Aufer et da mihi caltha" Ophelia whispered making the lights flicker outside.

Reginald raised his gaze to the ceiling before back to the two girls inside with a concerned look on his face.

"Aufer et da mihi caltha" she repeated eyes still closed as Vanya darted around the room.

"Ophe-" she was cut off by her head being thrown up by an invisible force tying itself to every one of her nerves.

Ophelia did the same in sync with her as they were enveloped in a sea of glowing yellow and orange while their feet left the floor. They hovered an inch from the floor as Ophelia continued chanting the forbidden words.

The girls eyes turned from their usual blue to complete white until Vanya managed to free one of her hands away which ended up blowing all the lights out from the bulbs. The girls were sent flying backwards knocking them unconscious.

Reginald sighed and walked from the basement to find Pogo and Grace to clean up the mess he was to blame on the girls.

Both girls woke up in the infirmary part of the house to Reginald sat at their sides accompanied with Allison who looked worried for Ophelia and her sister. "Finally, they're awake"

Grace rushed over at his words and removed the ice packs from both of their heads. "Number Three, what we talked about" Reginald gestured to the girls as he rose from his seat in sync with the girl.

"I heard a rumour..." Allison began, "that you forgot everything that happened this evening"

Vanya and Ophelia's eyes washed over with a familiar white as they dropped their heads back again.

When they sat back up, they were disoriented trying to puzzle together why they were there, "what happened?" Vanya asked, "why are we in the infirmary?"

"Don't worry, you're all better now" Allison placed a hand on her cheek and helped her out of the bed to guide her back to her room.

Ophelia looked to Reginald who simply shrugged before leaving and Grace handed Ophelia a blanket, "get some rest dear, you hit your head"

"But... I was reading?" She placed her hand to her temple and found a bruise making her grimace.

"Get some rest Ophelia, you'll be better by the morning" Grace smiled in the uncanny way that somehow made the Hargreeves feel better and was whisked away in the wind.

Ophelia went to bed that night feeling dazed and confused not knowing she had Reginald try and take Vanya powers from her but failed.

Also unbeknownst to her, she had accidentally fused a part of her magic to the marigold inside the Number Seven of the umbrella academy.
