Soon after the school day was over, I went to the gym since that's where the coach was going to be. I looked around to see none of the boys out yet since they were still in the changing room.
After I waited for a bit, the coach came in, and I introduced myself as the twins' older sister and how I was trying to be the manager for the volleyball team this year.
"Ah, so you are the sister the twins won't shut up about...yes, I've heard a load of things about you... you're in," He says as he just walks away to set up the gym.
"O-oh so I'm not getting like a test to see if I am a good manager or anything?" I asked surprised, and he just laughed, shaking his head.
"This isn't a math quiz, Miya," the coach said as I was walking close to him. "Besides, the twins seemed very optimistic with you and I know that their opinions aren't the best to consider, but this year's captain Kita also backed them up about you. I mean, if the captain himself says it, I have no doubt about it."
My cheeks turned slightly pink as I stopped my pace, and I looked over at the coach. "K-Kita talked to you about me?!" I asked. Before the coach could answer, a voice came from the other door.
"You guys talking about me?" I heard a familiar voice say. I quickly turned around and saw Kita there as I awkwardly smiled, facing him.
"O-oh hey! Just introducing myself to the coach..." I say awkwardly and nervously chuckle. The coach looks at us back and forth and then understands what's going on as he gives a low whistle.
"Well, I have to get the supervisor, so how about as your first job as captain and manager, start setting up the place for tryouts and practice," the coach says as he smiles. Kita and I nodded our heads as the coach left.
"Hey, can you get the bag of volleyballs in the closet, I'll get the nets set up," Kita asked me as he made his way to the other closet.
"O-oh yeah sure," I say, smiling as I make my way to the other side of the court and open the doors to the closet. I took out the bag of balls and placed it in the center of the court. I looked over at Kita as I saw him hanging the nets.
"Do you want me to do the other side?" I asked, tilting my head. Kita smiles and shoots me a thumbs-up. God, I live for his smiles.
I walked over to the pile of net, which was hanging and set up on one side, and on the other side, it was tangled on the ground. As I began to untangle the net, I ended up tangling myself into the net. I looked over at Kita, who saw me all tangled up. He chuckles and shakes his head with his hands on his hips. "
A little help maybe?" I asked softly. Kita walked over to me without saying a word and kept his warm little smile. I felt his hand holding onto my wrist as he tried to untangle me from the nets. I felt my stomach flutter as I felt his hands touch me. They were cold but really soft.
The problem was that the more he tried to untangle me, the more tangled I became. He tried to move closer but ended up tripping on the net and fell on me. Not being able to hold his weight, I fell onto the ground as he went falling on top of me. His hands instinctively were placed next to my head as my head was between his hands.
Our faces were millimeters away. I looked calm on the outside, but my insides were raging. Kita was surprised as we were in this position.
"O-oh um..." No words would come out of my mouth as we stayed in this position. Kita didn't even try to move out of this position...it surprised me that he stayed. I felt like his face was getting closer, and my heart just raced even more.
"Neh-chan?!!" I heard immediately. I turned my head around and saw the twins racing from the boys' locker room. It was the twins who were pouting as they saw this scene. They quickly came and pulled Kita up as the twins were helping me get out. Luckily, I was able to get out of the nets, but then the twins got stuck in it. They were ranging and trying to get their way out, but I couldn't hear their rants as I kept staring at Kita.
"Hey, sorry about that. I couldn't get up for some reason," Kita says softly, as he rubs the back of his neck. I looked at him with a soft smile and shook my head.
"No, no its alright. It was silly of me to get stuck in it first and you were just trying to help," I say as I was looking at him. His cheeks were slightly pink, probably because of how humid it was in this gym. We really needed an air conditioner here.
"Neh-chan!! I'm stuck help!" I heard Atsumu yell.
"Move you little bastard!" I heard Osamu say next as the two began to fight in the net tangling, themselves even more. That was the least of my concerns right now. I can't believe I was that close to my crush. Who cares if Osamu and Atsumu rip each other throats off... Kita and I were just millimeters away from kissing. Those two rascals ruined it, so I really wouldn't mind if they died for ruining this moment.
"Are you hurt in any way...I must have squeezed you down there," Kita asks in a slightly worried tone.
"No seriously its alright, besides your feet were like slightly tangled as you fell anyways... so you couldn't get up. I understand," I say. Kita laughs softly, as he walks closer to me and bends down to my ear.
"Who said anything about them being tangled up?"
