I found this video of moments from the DM dub and it's just cracking me up. respectfully, what the fuck was the 4kids team smoking when they dubbed this series, and does anyone know where a girl can get some? you're gonna want the lols because the rewrite of this story will be pretty dark going forward. like I can tell that I was trying to make it dark when I originally wrote this, but I couldn't take it seriously because it was so cringe. So as for how dark it's going to be, think of the previous version, only more sophisticated.

"Been thinking about time, about the white nights you've never spent; mixed times that feel like yesterdays to me."

Yusei
I can see the huge black and blue fist coming down. It's going to turn me into a Yusei pancake with a delicious side of Duel Runner and motor oil sauce. It's getting closer. I feel my Runner's back wheel buckle. If the giant fist doesn't finish me, my Runner just might. The bike pitches to the side. Something snaps. I'm tumbling along the asphalt. It's softer than I thought it would be.
I bolt upright, my breathing ragged and my heart racing. I reach up to touch my face, feeling the scratches. Bandages are wrapped around my sore abdomen. My head and neck are equally sore. My vision clears, and I realize I'm in one of the spare bedrooms at Martha's. There isn't a monster the size of the Kaiba Dome about to squash me.
"Well look who's awake," a familiar voice says teasingly. Martha turns around, smiling warmly. "You gave us quite a scare, Yusei."
"Martha. What happened? How did I get here?" I ask, my head still a little fuzzy.
"You took a nasty fall off your Runner. Crow brought you here," she answers.
"Nasty fall?" My dream comes back to me. "Right. I was dueling with Kalin."
"When you were little, I told you dueling was dangerous! Now you're a wreck! Check out your Runner," she lectures.
I raise one eyebrow, then turn to look out the window. I expected my Runner to look like a junk heap, but it looks like it was only in a small fender bender. The reason why is hammering some of the plating back to its original shape.
"Surprised? Your friends pushed it all the way here and Nova's been working on fixing it since dawn. She's been out there for nearly three hours," Martha tells me.
"My friends...pushed my Runner through the Satellite?"
"They got sick, and they lost their decks and quite literally the shirts off their backs. But they all knew what that Runner means to you," she says.
"But why is Nova fixing it?" I ask. After how things went down between us last night, I thought she'd want nothing to do with me.
"Because she knows what it means to you, too. Hope is all anyone has left here in the Satellite. Security's taken our decks and crime takes everything else. But the people here have always looked up to you, Yusei. They all thought you'd get out of here, start a real life. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you back here dueling. I hope you at least won your little game."
"But it's not what you think! There's people out there that want to destroy our home! All of us here are in great danger!" I blurt. "It's complicated, but there's these Dark Signers, and—"
"Calm down, Yusei. I believe you," she coaxes, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder and handing me a plate of apple slices. "But if we're all in great danger, then why are you trying to save us all on your own?"
