"Open the door Melanie!"
The banging outside the front door continued.
I sat on the living room floor rolling my basketball around.
The yelling was normal so I was able to tune it out and pay attention to the game my dad had on before my mom threw him out the house.
"GET OUTTA HERE BYRON BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE" my mother yelled at the door. The phone in her hand as she screamed and cried. "I TOLD YOU TO NEVER BRING THAT SHJT AROUND MY SON!" She yelled
I wasn't sure what she was talking about. But I was sure it had something to do with dad never being home, or dad coming home late.
"LET ME SEE MY FUCKING SON MELANIE" he yelled.
The banging on the door stopped and commenced again but this time on the window. "OPEN THE FUCKIN DOOR MEL"
I locked eyes with my dad, "tell ya momma open the door Jalen" he told me.
I looked to mom and she was running g at me. She scooped me up and held me close to her. Not only could I feel her tears on my skin, but I could feel her heart racing with fear.
"You ain't gon be nothing like ya father you hear me?" My mom spoke. She kissed my cheek. "Imma make sure of that"
