Ruby Jane Morales was currently in math class confused on the formula Mr. Cox was teaching. Prime factorization.

*Zing*

Nayeli: wtf is prime factorization??

Ruby Jane giggled to herself and responded back to Nayeli.

Ruby Jane: IDK HELP😭

Ruby Jane: ASK CAMI CUZ I'M CONFUSED TOO

Ruby Jane giggles as she turns to face Nayeli. Suddenly Mr.Cox's calls on Ruby Jane. 'Of course this happens me to' She turns back around and smiles at Mr.Cox's

"Ruby Jane, could you please explain prime factorization?" Mr. Cox requested, raising an eyebrow.

Ruby Jane nervously glanced around the room to see if anybody might help her out. Ruby Jane was awkward with the classroom's silence and finally made the choice to speak out.

"Well, I'm not sure," she responded, sounding a little sheepish tapping her pencil on her math book

Suddenly a tanned skinned, curly headed boy spoke out helping out Ruby Jane.

"Prime factorization is just breaking down numbers into their basic prime number parts" said the boy

Mr.Cox slightly cheered over the boy's answer. Then moved on to another topic.

"Wow thank you for helping me out" thanked Ruby Jane with a smile

"You're welcome. It's really not that hard. We learned this probably in middle school" said the boy

"Well I'm really stupid so" laughed Ruby Jane

The boy smiled and they both went back to finish the worksheet Mr.Cox had given them.

Ruby Jane, Nayeli and Camila were walking to the lunch spot. On the way there they saw Nayeli's talking stage with some girl.

"Look it's retro with Lucy ew" says Camila making a skanky expression.

"I know right. Going after another girl right after talking to you is crazy. Thank God you ghosted him. You saved yourself" Ruby Jane told Nayeli with a proud look on her face

"I know I did. Thank the Lord" replied Nayeli while doing a praying motion and giggling

The trio sat down on the sand colored couches in the corner of the room. The girls slid their backpacks off of them and leaned on each others shoulders.

Ruby Jane, hands in her face, commented, "Guys, Mr. Cox got me good with that question bruh. I was so embarrassed."

"Girl he did. I was confused too. I was going to text Camila but I saw her ass was asleep." said Nayeli

"Guys please spareeee me okay that class is boring as shit" whined Camila

"Okay but like the kid who saved my ass is cute" blushed Ruby Jane while grabbing Camila's hydro flask and taking a sip of water.

"Girl no that's Diego Montes he's weird as fuck" raised concern Camila and snatched her water bottle back

"How is he weird?" Nayeli questioned. Since they all knew that Camila loved to gossip, none of the girls questioned how she found out. It didn't matter if she knew the person involved in the drama. She loved hearing it and then share it with the other two girls.

"He and his friends were in Bella's dms telling her some weird shit" Camila shrugged her shoulders and murmured.

Nayeli and Ruby Jane looked at each other intrigued but noticed Camila getting up from the couch and grabbing her little white slip from her backpack that the principal gave her that said Me + 2 Principal Express Pass.

"Come on, let's go get lunch! I'm starving. Look" exclaimed Camila with her tongue out and showing off the pass that allowed the three of them to cut the long lunch line.

Nayeli rose from her seat and joined Camila. Ruby Jane was still sitting down, zoned out thinking 'I need to know what they said'

Weeks later Ruby Jane finally got the courage to ask Diego for his instagram ("for homework purposes") despite what Camila told her weeks prior. But of course when something comes in Ruby Jane's ear, it comes right out of the other.

Ruby Jane: diego, i think ur cute and i wanna get to know you. Ik this might be weird but #yolo 😭

Diego: 🙃
Diego: ill be down to get to know you too

After four days of texting, Ruby Jane noticed that Diego would take a long time texting her until eventually he left her on read. She never really understood why he ghosted her. She felt like everything was going smoothly. Of course the two of them were partners in math which was pretty awkward. Until Mr.Cox decided to arrange seats and that was the last time the two of them saw each other.

That was 2 years ago. Now it's senior year.
