In the middle of the night, Xia Chenxi started feeling drowsy. The police officer assigned to keep an eye on him poured him a glass of cold water and gently reminded him, "Drink some ice water to stay alert. Whatever you do, don't fall asleep."

The officer also had no intention of sleeping that night. His task was to watch over Xia Chenxi, and if he noticed that Xia Chenxi was about to nod off, he was to wake him immediately.

Xia Chenxi forced himself to stay awake and nodded, taking several sips of the cold water to push back the drowsiness.

But he knew this wouldn't work in the long run. The longer he lay down, the more likely he was to fall asleep, and if he happened to drift off and get pulled into a dream by the grotesque creature, it would spell trouble.

Xia Chenxi sat up straight and logged back into the game.

Because it was late at night, the little figure's room was nearly swallowed by darkness. Xia Chenxi could only make out the figure's general outline, curled up with its blanket, looking much like a cocoon.

The little figure was sleeping soundly.

Only then did Xia Chenxi relax. He carefully moved the game's perspective to collect the dishes and utensils from the table.

But the room was so dark that he accidentally tapped on the table.

A notification popped up on the screen.

[Dear player, you have not yet activated interactive mode. You cannot currently interact with the table. Would you like to deduct 5 Love Points to activate interactive mode?]

Xia Chenxi: "..."

Who wants to interact with a table?!

Xia Chenxi mentally complained, quickly closing the notification. To avoid this happening again, he zoomed in on the screen and carefully tapped several times until he finally managed to retrieve the chopsticks.

The entire process took several minutes.

Xia Chenxi was so focused on the game that any lingering drowsiness vanished completely, and he felt wide awake.

The police officer couldn't help but glance at Xia Chenxi again, noticing that he was now wide-eyed and alert, with no trace of sleepiness.

In just a few minutes, his condition had changed so quickly.

Could playing a game really be more effective than drinking ice water?

The officer was tempted to find out for himself. He was feeling a bit drowsy as well, and staring into space during the late hours was getting boring.

After thinking it over for a few seconds, he decisively opened an app to browse for a game that caught his eye.

He eventually settled on a survival-themed game with design elements.

He figured that since he had a decent knack for shooting, he could quickly get the hang of it and enjoy the fun the game had to offer.

Xia Chenxi finished preparing the meal and glanced at the two remaining bottles of milk out of the corner of his eye.▒思▒兔▒網▒文▒檔▒共▒享▒與▒在▒線▒閱▒讀▒

The pot was empty now.

Xia Chenxi wondered if he should heat the milk now so it would be ready for the little figure in the morning.

But within a second, he dismissed the idea.

The human body is in a detoxifying mode in the morning; milk is best consumed at night when it's more easily absorbed and helps with calcium intake.
