Song ~ Cry ~ Benson Boone
Tw ~ Mentions of abuse.I force myself to sit up, wincing in pain. "Who's there?" I manage to croak out, my voice trembling. The figure doesn't move or respond. I feel a cold sweat break out on my forehead. This wasn't part of the plan.
A gentle voice pierced the darkness. "Are you all right, sweetheart?"
My instincts screamed at me to flee, but my body betrayed me. I couldn't move, couldn't escape.
The person I ran into bends down to my level and softly asks. "I didn't hurt you did I?" I squint through the darkness, trying to see who it is, but I can't make out their face. Then, the woman speaks again, "Evelyn, is that you?"
Evelyn. My name. How did they know my name?
Suddenly, recognition dawned and my heart skips a beat as I recognize the voice-it's Jasmin, my social worker.
Realizing I'm safe, With newfound strength, I scramble off the floor as fast as I can and flung myself into Jasmine's arms, tears streamed down my face. I buried my head in her shoulder.
"Jasmine, please...help me," I sobbed, as I began telling her about everything that has happened in the last two years and why I havent been truthful to her in the past.
And the truth is I was too scared to tell her but I was more afraid of what Brad would do to me if he knew I had opened my mouth.
Jasmin listens patiently.
She held me tight, her voice calm and reassuring. Which reassures me, "The police are on the way sweetheart, and your foster father will be arrested along with his horrible friends. You're safe now, I promise."
I pulled back, tears staining my face. "Where will I go?"
Jasmine smiled. "I've found you a new foster family to stay with."
She tells me about the new family-a group of five boys who are young, kind, and would never dream of hurting me.
"They'll take care of you, Evelyn. You'll be safe." She whispered into my hair line.
She pulls away from me and taps me on the back gently, "C'mon let's get your stuff in the car." She grabs one of my bags as I grab the other.
Relief washed over me as Jasmine leads me to her car, a dark blue Mini Cooper. She opens up the bonnet and places my bags inside before closing the boot. I then climb into the passenger seat and wait for her to get into the drivers side.
Once she was comfortable in her seat she types in my new address and hits play to her current playlist. Blank space by Taylor Swift comes blasting through the speakers.
As we drove through the night, the city lights blurring together. And the faint hum of Jasmin humming along to Taylor Swift.
She drives me to my new home. For the first time in what feels like forever, I feel a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, I have found my happy ending. Just maybe I deserve it this time.

A/N: I hope you're all enjoying this book so far. 💕
How are we all feeling about this chapter?
Are y'all ready to meet the boys? ❤️🧡🇮🇪💚💙.
I know this was a really short chapter. This is actually the shortest chapter I have ever written, I normally aim for at least 1,000- 5,000 words and this is just about 600 words. But, I promise you the next chapter is a lot longer and it also has multiple different povs.
Please remember to vote, comment and share. It will mean so much to me if you did. 💕
Thank you,
