New City, New Problems

It has been five years since Neo Team Plasma tried to take over Unova with the power of Kyurem. Since their leader's sudden disappearance, the team quickly fell apart, and the threat of Team Plasma was finally over.

For one young teenager, though, his problems were just beginning...

"Are you sure we have to move?" Valen asked for a gazillionth time. "Like, sure Castelia City is great and all, but we have all that we need here in Icirrus!" The 14-year-old was quite adamant on staying in his snowy home.

His mother chuckled. "Oh, Valen. It'll only be a short while. Besides, you got enrolled at the Castelia Trainers' Academy! You'll get to learn a lot, and make lots of new friends!"

"I already have friends here though!" Valen whined, slumping onto the couch. His Cubchoo walked over and rubbed his head against Valen's arm.

"I know Cubchoo! You'll be taken away from your home!" Valen got up and picked Cubchoo off the ground. "You'll be taking Cubchoo away from all the snow!" He reasoned, holding Cubchoo in front of his mom.

"Choo?" Cubchoo looked at Valen's mother confused.

"There'll be snow in Castelia, Valen." His mother replied, looking at her son. "Valen, look. I know this is a big change, but we really need this new job I got. Besides, I know you always wanted try a Castelia Cone."

Valen's eyes widened. "A-A Castelia Cone!? I-I mean, r-right. Uh..." He tried to come up with a counterargument, but he was stumped.

"Plus, we'll return on your birthday, so you can tell all your friends what the big city is like."

Valen huffed as he let Cubchoo down. "Fine... but we're getting Castelia Cones the moment we arrive!"

After saying goodbye to his friends, and leaving Icirrus, the city he had grown up in, Valen, his mom, and his trusty partner Cubchoo started their way to Castelia. Valen and Cubchoo stared out of the car as they passed different routes and cities. They stopped at Driftveil to get some supplies from the local market. Valen and Cubchoo even got to see the Pokémon World Tournament stadium!

The family continued, stopping in Nimbasa city to see the amusement park. Valen and Cubchoo rode the roller coasters, and even ventured into the Gear Station, where they met Ingo and Emmet!

Finally, after passing through the sands of Route 4, they arrived at Castelia, the City of Grandeur. Valen and Cubchoo stared in awe at the towering buildings. The pair hadn't seen such sights before.

Valen's mom drove into the townhouse parking lot and parked her car. "We're here, our new home." She smiled, letting her Furret and Scizor out of their Pokéballs. "I promise that's the last time you'll have to be in there for a while."

Furret stretched and yawned, while Scizor nodded, with both walking over to help Valen's mom with the boxes.

"C'mon Cubchoo! We gotta help as well!" Valen smiled, grabbing a box and carrying over to the townhouse. Cubchoo tried to help, but ended up riding a box that Scizor carried.

The five got all the boxes up and to their new home, which was way bigger than expected. "Woah! This is HUGE!! Aren't apartments supposed to be small and cramped?" Valen asked, his eyes wide with excitement.

"This isn't an apartment, Valen. Where in the world made you think we'd be getting that?" Valen's mom smiled as she put some boxes down. "Go ahead, look around Valen."

Valen smiled as he grabbed Cubchoo and ran up and down the townhouse. "Woah! This is so cool!" He smiled, looking at all the rooms. He noticed one room which had an amazing view of Castelia. Valen lifted Cubchoo up and the two gazed out the window with wonder.
