"(Y/N), come back, I'm sorry!" you hear a distressed Asuna shouting. You were running away after just finding out that she had been cheating on you with some guy named Kirito. You don't know how long, and you don't know why, but you didn't care what so ever. You were just hurt and wanted to get away. You had done everything for her. You were her teacher when she joined the knights of the blood oath. You helped her on quests, strategized for boss floors, and gave her a recommendation when you were asked to be second in command even. You helped her climb all the way to the top. And this is how she repays you. By breaking your heart and cheating on you.
You wipe your eyes, just now realizing that tears were falling from them. As you look ahead, you see yourself a foot from a dark hole in the ground. You try to stop yourself from falling in, but it was too late, you were going too fast. All you see is the darkness surrounding you as you fall. You fall for a long time, getting prompts that you are switching floors. You were on floor 50, the current highest floor available to players. You were falling, and about to take a ton of falling damage.
Finally, after what felt like weeks, you land, but not on a hard land surface, but in a pool of liquid. You swim in the direction you think is up, and end up surfacing, no damage at all. You swam in a direction, hoping for there to be land. After what felt like yet another week just swimming in the dark, you get to land and light. You are greeted with a hallway that is about 100 ft wide. The walkway itself is rather small as there are giant stone statues on each side, each of a different boss monster, some you haven't even seen. The first 2 were some early floor bosses like Kulu-ya-ku and Volvidon. Others were mid level like the Anjanath and Rakna-kadaki. And then there towards the end there were some you didn't even know, like a giant winged monster with a bunch of spikes on it and two massive horns or a 4 legged beast with a cross piece near the end of its tail and blades on its arms (Nergigante and Magnamalo).
At the end of this hall of monsters, lays a weapon on a pedestal under a bright light. It was a massive shield and a sword with it. Though it had more to it than that. The shield had a slot near its top that was the same shape as the sword and it looked like both pieces made something bigger. The sword was simple, a red handle with a purple cross piece that lead to a yellow jagged blade. The shield was also a simple design, with a purple scaled middle and the edges being the same yellow jagged design to it. It was a tall trapezoidal shape. The jagged edges and scales were eerily similar to the beast monster you had seen walking up. You walk up and pick it up, getting a notification that you had obtained an item deemed the Sinister Shade Axe. Axe? This is a sword and shield. You then see another light pop up and are greeted with an all new armor set. It looked to be a replication of a dark samurai warlord of sorts. You touch it and it instantly is equipped. Looking over your shoulders you see 2 floating swords with a purple flame.

You pull out your new weapon and instantly are flooded with an insane number of skills. Charge blade adept, phials and how they are used, morph attacks, guard point, Amped Element Discharge, Super Amped Element Discharge, Element Roundslash, Savage Axe, Condensed Element Slash, Firing Pin, and the Axe Hopper. You are flooded with visions of how to pull off these skills and how this weapon functions as a whole. How its both sword and shield as well as a massive axe. You had always used Sword and Shield but felt let down by the skills associated. You smile widely at this skill list. You start to swing the sword and bash with the shield. You put the sword and shield together in axe mode and swing it a bit. You instantly feel a familiarity with the weapon, feeling as if you and your weapon are one.
"Oh yeah, this is gonna be great," you say to no one in particular. You were thinking about how you were going to leave as no path had opened up, you check your inventory. You see a single teleport crystal that you keep for emergencies. It returns to right in front of Asuna's house. You hadn't thought to use it between the fall, the massive source of water and the curiosity of the hallway. You pull it out, speak the command word, and vanish from the mysterious hallway, not before seeing the eyes of the 4 legged beast statue light up a bright purple.
First POV
As the light from the teleport animation stops and I can see my surroundings, I see I'm a few feet in front of Asuna's front steps. I turn away from her home and start to walk back into town when I hear the door behind me open. I turn and face whoever just walked out. Sure enough, its not just Asuna, but also Kirito opening and seeing me there. Both see me and just stand there, confused as to why someone in full samurai warlord armor with floating swords covered in purple fire appeared at this location. To be fair, I would too. Especially cause my face is still covered. Both have their hands resting on their weapons.
"Who are you, and why are you here?" Asuna asks, getting out of the initial shock of seeing someone teleport to her house.
I sigh, knowing that I won't be able to just walk away. I turn back around, removing my helmet while I did so. "Look, I was stuck somewhere and the only thing I had was a teleport crystal that landed right here that I kept for emergencies. I don't wanna be here as much as you probably don't want me here given what happened, Asuna. But it was my only choice. I just teleported to get out of the dungeon I was trapped in. That's it. I had this left over from when we were together, and that clearly isn't the case anymore. I'll just leave so that you two can get back to doing what you were doing. See ya on the front lines."
I turn back around and put my helmet back on to hide the tears that were starting to spill again. I hear fast footsteps and then feel a body slam into my back. I glance over my shoulder and see Asuna hugging me, crying into my back. Kirito is still in the front door, looking down in shame. I let Asuna cry for just a bit longer until she decides to speak. "I'm so sorry. I don't know why, but feelings for Kirito just sort of happened. It's not that I don't love you, I just love him more. I'm so sorry."
I pull Asuna's arms off of me and turn around to address what she said, helmet still on. "That's not what hurt, Asuna. If you had just told me what was going on, we could have ended it then and there. Instead you betrayed my trust. I knew it was a matter of time until you found someone better, someone stronger. I am nothing special. Always have been, always will be. I won't be in the guild nor on the front lines for a bit. Need to clear my head. Goodbye Asuna. I hope he is everything you wanted me to be for you."
I walk off, leaving Asuna crying as she falls to her knees, watching me go. Kirito still hasn't looked up from the steps by the time I'm leaving, but I don't really care. I always knew she would need me. But now I have something to distract myself. My new unique weapon and exclusive skills.
