Lucifer and Alastor were left alone in the house after the chaos had subsided and Ally had been taken away to the hospital.
The silence between them was stifling, and the tension in the air was even worse... Lucifer was still trying to process the events of the day, and the weight of his actions was weighing heavily on him...
Alastor, on the other hand, was still struggling to wrap his head around the fact that their lives had been put in danger because of Lucifer's greed..
Alastor: "why...."
Lucifer looked up, his expression a mixture of shame and regret. He knew that he needed to explain himself and try to make things right with Alastor...
Lucifer: "Why did I do it...?"
He took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts before continuing...
Lucifer: "I suppose I was just being selfish and greedy. The necklace was valuable, and I couldn't resist the temptation to take it... But I never imagined that doing so would put you and Ally in so much danger... I-I am truly sorry, Alastor."
Alastor: "If you knew it was a bad idea.... Why did you do it..."
Before Lucifer could reply to the question, Alastor spoke again... now with tears streaming down his face...
Alastor: "Why did you risk your whole life for a necklace..?! Do me and ally not mean anything to you..?! Why... why did you do this..."
Lucifer's heart shattered as he watched Alastor cry, and the guilt washed over him like a tidal wave. He knew that he had royally screwed up, and seeing the pain he had caused hurt him deeply...
Lucifer: "don't say that, Alastor... You and Ally mean more to me than anything in the world. And yet... I let my greed and desire for the necklace cloud my judgment. I was foolish and reckless, and I see that now. I was wrong, so terribly wrong..."
Alastor: "And... how could I ever trust you again..."
Lucifer knew that the trust he had worked so hard to build with Alastor was gone. He had broken it, shattered it, and there was no turning back now...
Lucifer: "I know that I've broken your trust, Alastor. And I don't have the right to ask for it back, but I promise you that I will do everything in my power to earn it back. I will work to make amends and do whatever it takes to prove my love and devotion to you and Ally."
Alastor: "Will you.... Or will you just break that too...." Alastor looked away, not being able to face Lucifer right now.
Lucifer could feel his heart breaking as he heard Alastor's words. The hurt in his voice was like a knife to his soul...
Lucifer: "Alastor... I know I've messed up. I messed up badly. And I know that I don't deserve your forgiveness. But I want you to know that I will spend every day of my life proving to you that I love you, just please give me a chance to set things right. Please, Alastor, if not for me, then for our love, for Ally"
Alastor: "....." Alastor couldn't bring himself to respond...
*Lucifer waited there, hoping, praying that his words had gotten through to Alastor. He could see the hurt and anger in his eyes...
Lucifer: "I understand that you need time to process everything, and that's okay. I'll give you all the time you need, as long as you'll give me a chance to make things right. I love you, Alastor, more than anything in the world. Believe me, please believe me..."
Alastor got up and opened the front door,
Alastor: "I don't know if I can...." He then left the house...Lucifer watched as Alastor got up and walked out of the front door, his heart heavy with sorrow and regret.
He wanted to call out, to stop him, but he knew that it was no use. He had to let Alastor go, let him process everything and decide if there was any forgiveness in his heart for him.
Alone in the empty house, Lucifer felt a profound sense of sadness wash over him. He had messed up big time, and he had paid the price for it...
