Chapter 1: The Unexpected Encounter

Caroline Rae Estrella was known for her beauty, wealth, and confidence. She was the queen bee of her school, and everyone knew not to mess with her. But beneath her tough exterior, Caroline had a secret: she didn't believe in love. To her, it was just a myth created to make people weak and vulnerable. She had seen her parents' failed marriage, and she was determined not to fall into the same trap.

Caroline's social circle consisted of her closest friends, Kevin, May, and April. Kevin, her gay best friend, was always by her side, offering advice and support. May and April were her partners in crime, always up for a good time. Together, the four of them ruled the school's social scene.

As Caroline rushed to her locker to grab her books for her first class, she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. Suddenly, she felt a jolt as someone bumped into her, and her books went flying out of her hands. "Oh no, I'm so sorry!" a voice exclaimed, as a pair of hands reached out to help her.

Caroline looked up to see a boy with messy brown hair and piercing green eyes, smiling apologetically at her. "It's okay, I'm fine," she said, as she took her books from him.

The boy smiled back, and Caroline felt a spark of electricity as their hands touched. "Thanks," she said, smiling up at him.

The boy nodded and walked away, leaving Caroline feeling a bit dazed.

Later that morning, Caroline walked into her classroom, expecting the usual routine. But as she scanned the room, her eyes landed on the boy who had bumped into her earlier. He was standing at the front of the classroom, introducing himself to the class.

"Hi, I'm James Cillian Gonzales," he said, looking directly at Caroline as he spoke. "I'm a transferee from another school, and I'm excited to be here."

As he finished speaking, James walked over to the empty seat beside Caroline and sat down. Caroline felt a flutter in her chest as he smiled at her, and she couldn't help but notice the way his eyes crinkled at the corners.

Throughout the day, Caroline caught glimpses of James, but they didn't have a chance to talk. She was busy with her friends, and James seemed to be keeping to himself. But Caroline couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just met someone important.

As she walked out of the classroom with Kevin, May, and April, Caroline couldn't help but mention the new student. "Hey, guys, did you see that new boy in class?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

Kevin raised an eyebrow. "Which one? The cute one with the messy hair?"

Caroline blushed. "Yeah, that's the one. James something."

May and April exchanged a knowing glance. "Ooh, Caroline's got a crush!" April teased.

Caroline rolled her eyes. "Shut up, guys. I'm just curious, that's all."

But as she walked away with her friends, Caroline couldn't help but wonder about James. Who was he, and what was his story?

"Thanks for earlier, Caroline." My heart, why is it beating so fast? How did he even know my name? Why am I blushing?  Impossible.... It's impossible, Caroline Rae...
