THE ASTOR FAMILY. - A long line of extremely intelligent businesspeople who worked their way up to the top and won the respect of the surrounding families as their empire expanded daily. This whole process started with Joan's seventh great-grandfather Windell, a pioneer who cleared the path for his family in spite of opposition from his lone foe, the Van Doren family, who would later turn into the enemy of the entire bloodline through a longing resentment.
THE VAN DOREN FAMILY. - An extended blood family of royalty. With Usef Van Doren, Yvonne's seventh great-grandfather, marrying into the royal blood line in 1870 and ascending to the throne, the royal family enjoys widespread recognition and respect in the community.
