**Y/N's POV**

Summer in Seabrook is both the best, and the worst. For one, there's no school, which is great! i can go visit my old town, I love it way better than here. But when I'm not there, I like to spend my time on the boardwalk, or at the connection of zombietown, nobody spends time there, they just see it as a passway, but the view there is calming, and somewhat nostalgic...? As amazing as this might sound, the weather here is another thing to talk about. Someday, the sun is as bright to cook an egg mid-air, then the next, its raining like its the first time rain was seen..

As I was lost in thought, I heard someone call out my name, was that Addison!? We don't talk often, what could she want?

"Hey, Y/N!! What are you doing here-?" Addison spoke as she ran up towards me, she was wearing the usual outfit seen here in Seabrook. A light blue tee with white jeans, and a denim jacket, typical Seabrook. To me, it always looks like everyone has an assigned color code they must follow. Its either light pink or light blue, even the zombies for good sake! Sure, they had government-issued clothing, but still, can they wear other colors for once!?

"Oh, Addison- I don't do anything over the summer. So you know, I'm just hanging around the city." I gave my most convincing smile, attempting to engage in conversation. "In that case, I would like to invite you to come with me to cheer camp! It's only 2 weeks, a good way to spend the rest of your summer." Cheer Camp, is just like starting school early. After those 2 weeks, we instantly go to school, but we skip the first 3 days.. Although I am a cheerleader at Seabrook High, its not really my main passion, I have other interests too, unlike someone here. I thought for a moment, weighing the pros and cons, in the end, my answer was:

"Yeah sure, whats there to lose?" As Addison registered my answer, she politely smiled. "Thats great! Ill see you Saturday, that when we leave, 6 A.M sharp, see you then, cuz!" Cuz? Woah, maybe shes trying to build a relationship with me, we may be cousins, but yet, we don't talk like friends. As she walked off, she waved goodbye with her signature smile on her face, I cant lie, her happiness is contagious. I waved back to her and stood up, making my way back home to inform my mother.

I arrived at my front porch, opening the door, finding my mother on her way out. "Ma! Where are you going?" I asked, she doesn't regularly leave, and shes well dressed, could I tag along? "Ill be back before 10," My mother spoke in a rush, checking her purse making sure nothing is missing, gosh, she didn't even make eye contact with me! "Lunch is on the stove, order dinner or something, I don't know." She pushed past me, taking out her car keys. Rude much. "W-Wait! Ma! I just needed to ask-" "I have to leave Y/N/N, you can tell me it later." She cut me off, so much for an adoring motherly figure. Before I could speak, she shut the car door. "Ugh.. Shes impossible!" I groaned as i walked into the house , slamming the door behind me. I couldnt even watch my mother drive off. Shes been a whole new person lately, i miss my old, loving momma. Even if she isnt even really gone, things are just different. I walked to the kitchen, looking at whats for lunch, just to be met with an empty pot and dishes on the table. Great. Just Great!

"What is wrong with her? Should i be worried-?" I thought to myself as i turned around, heading up towards my room when i suddenly recieved a text message from Addison.

Addison- What did Aunt Eslinda say? Can you come??? Itll be a bummer if you cant..

Y/N- She said yes, that its good that your taking me.

Addison- Oh that great! I cant wait!

I can't believe I lied to her. I haven't even asked my ma about it, and ive already confirmed! Addison is excited, and I'd hate to see her disappointed. "Just because we don't talk, doesn't mean I'll go around making fake promises! I'm not a monster-!" I thought to myself, maybe I shouldn't have...

I spun towards my mother's open room, seeing a big mess inside. Not thinking much about it, I stepped forward to shut the door, when a light glared from an open nightstand drawer. "What the-" I paused, "Probably just the light." I walked out, closed the door and finally headed into my room. "Finally! Someplace where I can rest without outside burdens!" I spoke as I belly-flopped onto my bed. Id have to enjoy this cheer camp stuff, or those 2 weeks will be long... I got comfortable on my bed, since it was just 1 o clock, I could take a nap without my mother pestering me around. As I laid down, it took me a while to fall asleep, but when I finally did I had a vivid dream...

It was eerie and dark, just enough light to see my surroundings, I was at Seabrook High! At night time-? Suddenly, I started walking around, there was nobody around, not a single soul. Out of nowhere, both Addison and her zombie boyfriend, Zed emerged from the empty hallway, calling out for me.

"Y/N! Your here!" Addison gleamed with happiness, but something felt off.. "Um, yeah! So glad I could make it!" I spoke, what else was I supposed to say?? Just as soon as I finished speaking, a loud cracking noise disrupted the quiet scenario, I spun around looking out the glass doors just to see a meteor shower happening. A meteor shower!? As complicated as Seabrook may be, this was just surreal!

"Y/N, your not still scared of the meteor showers, right?" Zed spoke, his tone in a teasing manner. Addison also shyly chuckled, seeming to find humor in my actions, why are they acting like this was the new normal?? I looked back at them, just to find myself back in the doorway of ma's bedroom. The same messy scene in front of me again, it stayed like this for what seemed like forever, when all of a sudden, the small glow coming from the drawer shun. Thsi time, the light grew rapidly that it blinded me. "Woah-!" I fell back.

I woke up in a shock, that light seemed so real, my eyes seemed to hurt. "What was that-!" I said to myself, then the memory of the meteors came back. What did Zed mean by "Still scared"? i haven't even witnessed an actual meteor shower at all in my life. "Whatever, its just a dream. It doesn't mean anything.." I convinced myself, picking up my phone to check the time. "3 o clock? Its still early, might as well go out for some fro-yo. That shit is amazing!" I got up, changing outfits since I just slept in my previous one. Not a good look for you, Y/N...

I made my way to the front door, putting my phone and keys into my pockets as I opened the door. The fresh breeze hit my face, but something coursed through my body. Something that I couldn't exactly pinpoint.

"Im not liking this day..."
