Nova wakes up at 3 AM, the desired time for chaos to rise. He puts on his winter coat and grabs his equipment off his chair to prepare for what might happen at the Murder Drones' lair. He messily puts on his beanie and sneaks into his dad's room to grab the spare keycard North lent him. He pats his holsters and exits his shared home.He walks down the residential quarter of the facility and makes his way to the large hallway. Nova's sure that his father is probably checking out the cafeteria or is at least anywhere but here. Mechanical fans whir above him softly, the snow and ice in every crevice only adding to the cold demeanor of his surroundings. He scans the keycard on the desired data bank and waits for the doors to open, only to be surprised that North's usual patrolling was heavily delayed. "Oh- Robo-Jesus-" Startled, Nova's hands hovered over the two holsters. "And where are you headed, boy?" North crosses his arms and puts on a stern expression. "Uhhh... Sneaking out to meet with my friends that I definitely- totally have??" His father's expression weakens and he goes into a sarcastic laugh, of course before returning to being monotone. "Seriously, though." Nova lets out a groan since he knows he's gonna have to come up with yet another excuse. "Alright, alright, I lied." "I need to... measure the exterior mechanics of... Door 1! For... School- a big ol' door!" He struggles to keep up this act of I know what I'm doing. "Just like what my pops built.." He mutters, not so confident. North's demeanor weakens again, giving him a slightly proud expression. "I want to also hide behind doors like cowards and play cards and stuff like you do..." North lets out another relaxed laugh and places a hand on his hip, willing to explain. "Well, we aren't just card-obsessed cowards-" Before he could continue boasting, the door behind them opens up, and a table with 5 WDF employees holding cards that range from 2 to 9 sat at it.
"Hey Boss, could you grab a new pack on your way out? We have a card addiction that's so bad that the numbers have faded, Oh! Hey Nova!" Nova awkwardly waves to them before the door in front of him closes roughly. "Well, when you've worked with doors as long as I have-" He rubs his palms against the cold metal door, sensually and obsessively. He pants against it, causing a warm spot to appear on the dark metal. "Good door. Goood dooor..." He turns back to his son, quickly dismissing his previous showcase of weirdness. "There's no need for violence. Nova, this is a brilliant step to victory! Here, this wrench was the vital worker in building the prototypes of every door! And also to put your mother out of her misery when those damn disassembly drones got to her with that nanite acid.." North tosses it to Nova, brushing off his inner trauma. "I want you to have it!" Nova catches it and looks down at it with worry. "Neat. Therapy's fun.." He mutters nervously.
North scans his keycard on the scanner and the door quickly opens. "Fellas, my son is into DOORS!" The employees cheer but quickly their cries get replaced with annoyance as the frontal door extends open. "He'll be studying the exterior mechanics of door 1! We're all happy to have you here, son!" North applauds, the other WDF employees joining along as well. "Oh- wow. Uhh, okay. I'll get to it then, since this worked so crazy well, go Doors! hehe.." Nova walks outside, still trying to collect his thoughts on what just happened. "They grow up so fast..." North takes off his mustache, wiping away the tear on his faceplate.
The door shuts immediately after Nova walks out into the colder atmosphere. Cranes and construction machinery creak by their bolts and rely on the ice built around their parts to stay kept. Oil still drips from every injury on every victim in the vicinity. Nova readjusts his gear and starts to get a move on, trying to find where the Murder Drone lair is, to begin with. He admires the scenery around, tilted buildings, dead wildlife, snow layered on every surface, cobwebs and wildlife in ice like amber, and once-modern machinery failing to its disadvantages, it looks like a frozen apocalypse. While on the journey to find the murderers' nest, Nova feels something crack under his shoe, but as he looks down, he quickly realizes what the surface is. It's a dead worker drone, his shoe now covered in its internal data and oil. He shakes off his boot and covers up the body with snow, he looks up and is caught in shock as he sees the spire of corpses before him. A long spiral of worker drone bodies makes up for most of the structure, but there's a large hole on one of the sides of the cave the murder drones made. It reeks of oil and weirdly... Blood. Nova enters the crater structure.
