Mingyi tilted her head back and opened her lips but couldn't utter a complete sentence.
"Your Highness, Your Majesty, who captured you?" He tortured in his own way.
Mingyi: “…” Bad uncle.
Xie Shu: “Hmm?”
"Hmm..." Mingyi pursed her lips, "Your Excellency."
Xie Shu: “Hmm?”
Mingyi replied intermittently: "Thank you, thank you Shu."
Xie Shu: “Hmm?”
Mingyi's eyes were filled with tears: "Husband."
Hearing the long-lost "husband", Xie Shu smiled with satisfaction, gently kissed her forehead, and carefully called back Ming Yi: "Madam."
"Does this mean I have succeeded in getting promoted?"
Mingyi: “…” Congratulations.
The charity event has come to an end. Mingyi received the first donation not long ago and everything is going well.
The people of Jiangnan Province had suffered from Su Jinyuan for a long time. After his fall, various places in Jiangnan Province held lantern festivals all night long without curfew to celebrate.
River lanterns are floating along the shore of Taihu Lake, making the lake surface particularly brilliant.
Soon the two would return to Beijing. On the eve of their departure, Mingyi went with Xie Shu to Taihu Lake to enjoy the lanterns and cruise the lake.
The two of them took a small boat and drifted all the way to the center of the lake. The lotus-shaped river lanterns dotted the night lake like stars.
In the quiet night, the noisy cheers on the lakeshore are particularly clear.
This should have been a joyous moment.
Xie Shu looked at the lakeside quietly, his emotions unclear.
Mingyi understood, however, because of his mother.
If Su Jinyuan fell, Wen Shi would not be able to escape. No matter what, Wen Shi was Xie Shu's mother. As a child, no one would want anything to happen to their mother.
On a quiet winter night, the boat swayed in the middle of the lake. Mingyi handed a cup of warmed vegetarian wine to Xie Shu: "Husband, drink something to warm yourself up."
Xie Shu came back to his senses, chuckled and took the wine from Mingyi's hand, the warmth flowing into his palm through the wine glass.
Mingyi looked at him and asked softly, "Is Madam Wen okay?"
Xie Shu replied calmly: "She is fine."
"Su Jinyuan sacrificed all his followers to protect her before his death."
Mingyi was slightly stunned, surprised that such a cruel and ruthless man like Su Jinyuan would give up everything for a woman.
"So what are you going to do with her next?" she asked.
Xie Shu took a sip of the wine: "She doesn't need me to take care of her."
"Soon after Su Jinyuan died, she moved into the home of his richest cousin who had lost his wife."
Xie Shu spoke very cryptically, but Mingyi understood what he meant.
Before Su Jinyuan's body was cold, the Wen family had already found a buyer.
Mingyi glanced at Xie Shu, not knowing what to say, and was speechless for a moment.
Xie Shu, however, took it very lightly. His mother had treated his father in the same way back then, so it was not surprising that she would treat Su Jinyuan in the same way now.
