Going to the library was somewhat of a foreign concept to James. He had been to the library once or twice before, but he never cared to stay long enough to observe anything. Upon entering the room, he had admitted to himself that the library was beautiful. Grand windows filled the spaces in between the endless rows of bookshelves; the bookshelves were built of a dark stained wood that seemed to seep out into the desks that were pressed up against each side. Above the desks were lamps that emitted a warm glow, allowing light that was independent of the chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings. As he took in more of the scenery, he realized how much he regretted not taking advantage of the library.

James continued to walk down the pathway, looking for a spot to set up. Searching through the desks, he spots Remus sitting by himself.

Approaching him, James spoke, "Hey Remus. Do you mind if I sit here?"

"Yeah you can sit there. It's been a while since we've hung out, so correct me if I'm wrong, you don't really come to a library voluntarily." Looking up at the blue-eyed man, Remus smirked slightly as he poked fun.

"Yeah, last time I ever did was when you made me come with you. I think I recall it was because you were too scared to be with Amelia by yourself." James tapped his chin with his index finger, pretending that the memory was a haze.

"Oh sod off Potter, she was the scariest girl at Hogwarts." Remus groaned.

James smirked as he said, "I forgot the big bad wolf needed protection."

"Of course I needed protection, did you see how she reacted when we put that hex on her shampoo bottle?" Remus leaned forward over the table.

"Her hair was like that for weeks!"

The two burst out laughing at the memory of turning the girl's hair into vines, only to be shushed by the librarian. Quietly laughing to themselves, they both continued their conversation in a more hushed tone. The two continued reminiscing about their adventures at their old school until Remus looked at his watch.

"Oh shoot. It's already 8? I promised my friend that I'd help her pack. She's moving to a house in town. Sorry Potter." Remus rushed to gather his stuff and bid farewell to James.

James eyes widen at Remus's words, 'It's 8 already?' As he quickly opened the textbook, James located the chapter he needed and began writing his assignment. He needed to write an essay about his favorite potion; he had to include the ingredients, history, and his reasoning for it being his favorite. He randomly picked a potion and began writing random notes in hopes that it will help him later. Due to his time restraints, his writing became like chicken scratch and his thoughts on paper were disorganized. Trying to finish what he could, he was soon interrupted.

"Sir, it is 9. The library is closed. You need to leave." When he glanced up, James saw the librarian who hushed him earlier standing over him.

"Please I just need one more hour-"

Cutting James off, the librarian spoke, "Look kid, the library is closed. Maybe try to do your homework in your dorm."

Squinting his eyes, James retaliated, "But all the information I need is here and I can't check out every single book."

"That's not my problem, now leave."

Accepting defeat, James gathered his stuff and began walking to his dorm.

Slamming the front door shut, James walked into the shared living space.

"Woah, what got you so upset?"

"Not now Sirius, I'm not in the mood." James exclaimed as he plopped himself on the couch.

"Yeah, clearly. Wanna talk about it?" Sirius asked, getting up from the dining table and sitting next to James.
