Vedanti pushed open the door to Shivya's office, expecting to find him engrossed in work as usual. But as she stepped inside, her eyes widened in shock at the scene before her. Sam, one of Shivya's closest friends, was sitting on Shivya's lap, and both of them were laughing hysterically about something.

The laughter died abruptly when they realized she was there. Both men quickly stood up, looking at her with a mix of surprise and confusion.

Vedanti, her eyes still wide with shock, blurted out, "Shivya, you should have told me before! Oh God, I am so, so sorry to come between you both!"

Shivya and Sam exchanged bewildered glances, trying to figure out what she was talking about.

"I didn't know, Sam, trust me! Shivya never mentioned anything," Vedanti continued, her voice rising with each word.

Sam furrowed his brow, clearly puzzled. "Uh, Vedanti... what are you sorry for?"

She made a heart shape with her fingers, gesturing toward the two of them, her eyes filled with concern. Shivya's mouth fell open in realization, and Sam suddenly burst out laughing.

"No, no, Vedanti, you've got it all wrong!" Sam said, still chuckling. "Shivya and I are just friends. There's nothing going on here!"

Shivya, who had been struggling to contain his laughter, finally lost it. He shook his head, trying to keep a straight face as he looked at Vedanti. "Hasn't Shivya given you enough reasons to believe that he's straight?" Sam teased, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Vedanti's cheeks turned bright red as the misunderstanding dawned on her. "Oh my God... I... I just thought..." she stammered, now feeling utterly embarrassed.

Shivya took a step closer to her, his eyes soft with amusement. "You really thought I wouldn't tell you something like that?" he asked, his tone teasing yet gentle.

"I don't know! I just—" Vedanti started, but Sam cut her off with a laugh.

"You've got nothing to worry about, Vedanti," Sam said, patting Shivya on the back. "This guy is all yours."

Vedanti glanced up at Shivya, who was now looking at her with a playful smirk. She couldn't help but giggle, her embarrassment slowly melting away. "I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions," she murmured, her eyes twinkling with humor.

Shivya shook his head, still grinning. "It's okay, Vedanti. At least now I know how much you care."

Vedanti rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling. "Well, you could've told me sooner that you weren't into... you know, sitting on laps and all," she teased back, finally joining in on the joke.

Shivya chuckled, pulling her into a quick hug. "I'll make sure to be clear about that from now on," he whispered, his breath warm against her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.

Sam, watching the interaction, shook his head with a smile. "You two are something else," he muttered, amused by the whole situation.

"Anyways, I want your help, Sam," she said, looking at him with an innocent plea.

Shivya's possessive side flared up instantly. He didn't like the idea of her asking anyone else for help, especially not Sam, who was his best friend. Without thinking, he pulled her closer, his arm wrapping around her waist in a protective, almost territorial, gesture. "I'm at your service, ma'am," he said, his voice smooth but firm. "Why ask others when you've got me?"

Vedanti rolled her eyes playfully at him, clearly not fazed by his possessiveness. She lightly slapped his chest, a teasing smile on her lips as she freed herself from his grip. "Oh, stop being so dramatic, Shivya," she said, her tone light as she turned back to Sam.
