My beloved, I will love you freely…
… …
My beloved!? What are you saying!?
…. ….
…. …. (A Silence)
… …
Well, I do not mind; every step towards the understanding of that satisfies me and gets me sicker and sicker, lovesick!
I have known and believed the love that my beloved has for me.
He loved me first.
Young ladies, have you seen my beloved?
Would you be able to distinguish Him among the young men?
His loving gaze shines in the midst of gazes charged with voluptuousness.
The fire of its intensity is not animated by lust as it can be provoked in men.
That’s why His gaze ravished my heart, the gaze of my beloved! He is full of love and righteousness.
My beloved has turned his gaze away, and to be seen now are only gazes full of lust and adultery.
These glares used to satisfy me, but now I hate and despise them!
I wouldn’t like to give a look like that either.
And I hate myself for having wanted to attract them like that, out of lust.
I like decency and simplicity after all.
I feel pleasantly obliged to do so, because for my beloved, I am sick, …
Lovesick!
My beloved has said to me:
“Walk before me and be upright (perfect)’ (Gen17:1), for I have redeemed you with my blood, that you may belong to me.”
“I will betroth you to me with righteousness and justice as your dowry…
I will put love and tenderness in you!
I will betroth you to me with faithfulness!
Then you will know your beloved!” (Hosea 2:19-)
At the approach of a suitor, …
He tenderly grasped my cheeks and reframed my head…
Gently with one finger, he tenderly supported my chin and raised my head, to plunge His gaze into mine!
To drown my lust in his loving gaze!
Ahh I’m sick, sick with love!
My beloved is a great king!
He leads the heavenly armies!
So, his humility brings me to confusion.
He is not acclaimed!
He is like those before whom we look away.
No presence, no beauty to attract attention.
Silent before his accusers, as if He wanted to bear all the blame and punishment in the place of the accusers and the guilty!
Therefore, the insults fell on Him, as did the punishment! (Isaiah 53)
Young men, do you know this, that I was among the guilty?
That I was among those who insulted Him?
If you know this, then tell me, how can I not be sick for my beloved?
Sick, lovesick!
Young people, have you seen my beloved?
Could you distinguish Him and set Him apart?
If you listened to Him, his voice is soft and light when He says to me.
“I love you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31).
I have heard and my bowels are stirred!
At that voice my heart trembles and my ‘flesh’ is consumed!
So, I do the good I want to do and the evil I don’t want to do, I do not do it!
Because he makes me sick, lovesick!Ahh I have found He that made my heart desire Him.
One, chosen from among the people.
His lips drips like the honeycomb, honey is under his tongue.
And the words of grace that flows from his lips are a balm of myrrh, a balm of life and a balm of love.
When it comes to speaking, never has a man spoken like this man, my beloved.
Ahh young people, if you hear his voice today, do not harden your hearts!
Stir up and awaken love! For it pleases!
I said to my beloved:
Take me behind you! Let’s run together!
My beloved is like a gazelle, majestic!
He looks like a young stag.
He leads me into the desert, and the evil of my heart arises.
For lack, pain and suffering dispose me to it!
My beloved is with me, He speaks to my heart!
He showers his love on me.
I remember why young girls fall in love with Him.
Guess then! who is this riding out of the desert, leaning on her beloved?
Riding victoriously with Him out of the desert!?
Yes, train me behind you! Let’s ride together!
To higher places of justice!
Where my love for you, my beloved, would be even sicker!
How meek and humble of heart you are, my beloved!
Because of this, you have suffered and endured from all, because all are sinners!
In his justice and righteousness, my beloved made himself the servant of all!
For He cannot deny himself.
So, He stands in Himself as standard of righteousness!
Ahh young daughters of the world,
In my beloved is my standard!
Otherwise, He would not, He would not be beloved!
Ahh! did you know, you all, young and old.
One cannot exaggerate my beloved.
He stands in places beyond imagination.
So, what I say about Him is only what I have known.
To keep certain things hidden, to make all things beautiful in its time, that is his glory!
Ahh young people did you know, me, I am, …
I am a being of flesh.
Very often prey to my desires and lusts.
But my beloved is authentic!
He is called “I am”! He does not appear to be, He is!
His love does not boast!
That’s why it’s more exhilarating than good wine! For then, in intimacy, my beloved is mine, and I am my beloveds’.
What happy days when I grasp this simple truth and try to make it my own!
But the boastful pride of the flesh prevails and, …
Takes it away from my heart and my understanding.
So, from your cup my beloved, I wanted to drink the wine of your love.
But my beloved was no longer there. He was gone!
His departure left me distraught!
On my bed, before dawn, I looked for the one my heart desires.
I looked for Him but did not find Him.
Then I said to myself: “get up and come down from your high places, those exposed places!”
I came down from my heights and all the way down, …
I found the one my heart loves.
I grasped Him tightly and never let go!
“He led me to the house of wine, and He unfurled the banner of love over me! Oo…
Sustain me with cakes of grapes!
Strengthen me with apples!”
For I am sick, sick of love!
Yes, sick, sick of his love, more exalting than wine, the best of wines!
“Let your left hand be under my head, and let your right embrace me!” (Songs 2)
Yes, I implore you, daughters of the world, gazelles and hinds of the field, and you sons of men!
If you hear his voice today,
Awaken, yes awaken love, for she wills it.
Ahh my beloved, my friend…
My brother and above all, my Lord!
You, the bridegroom of the church
Roaring from Zion!
Faithful and true!
You ride on a white horse.
You wear many diadems on your head!
Your name is the word of God!
King of kings and Lord of lords!
How beautiful is your bride in her white robe, without spot or wrinkle.
Waiting for you like a wise virgin, with her inner finery hidden in her heart.
Her spirit gentle and peaceful, incorruptibly pure!
Aah my beloved, you love beauty, you yourself have clothed her thus! And you gave her a new name!
You appear at the wedding like the dawn.
It is with good reason that she is enamored of you, O morning star!
Let the trumpets resound, that your sign appears in the sky!
You come on the clouds with great glory!
Let the wedding begin!
And may communion with you drunken her with love forever!
Amen!
1Jn 4:9-10:
[9] “God’s love for us was made manifest in that God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.
[10] And this love is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.Rom 5:5-9:
[5] “Now hope does not deceive, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
[6] For while we were still weak, Christ died for the ungodly at the appointed time.
[7] One would scarcely die for a righteous man; one might die for a good man.
[8] But God proves his love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
[9] How much more then, now that we are justified by his blood, shall we be saved by him from wrath?
