An Asexual's Guide to High School

Chapter 2

     As soon as Ash Franklin woke up on Monday, they smiled. Today was the day that they finally take down Ryan Tanner! They got out of bed and stretched, remembering the thing that ALSO happened yesterday. "Why don't I have sexual or romantic feelings for anybody? That doesn't make sense.", they thought as they were getting dressed in the outfit that they specifically chose for this day. A skirt with a bunch of foliage and skulls, a black tank top and a bunch of earrings with leaves. [also yes this is an actual outfit I own and love]

     They went down stairs and smelled bacon and pancakes. "What's all this for"?, they asked their Mom, Betty. "Just love you", she said giving Ash a kiss on the cheek. Ash smiled and grabbed a couple pancakes and some bacon, then sat down. They were so busy shoving food into their mouth, they didn't notice Ophelia coming into the kitchen. "Hey!", they said, turning around. "Hey", said Ophelia, attempting to grab a pancake as her mother moved it out of the way. "Smokers don't get pancakes", said Betty as she gave Ophelia the look. Ash winced, remembering the conversation VERY clearly in their head. There was a lot of screaming, and crying. Ophelia eventually just ran up to her room and slammed the door.

     "Fine", huffed Ophelia and grabbed a protein bar then ran out the door. Ash's mother sighed and sat down. "What did I do? Why does she hate me?", she moaned into her hands. "Hey, she doesn't hate you. She's just mad at dad", said Ash hugging their Mom. "It's not your fault". Betty smiled and hugged them back. "I can always count on you, sweets", Betty smiled. "Now go! You're gonna be late!", said Betty as she shooed Ash out the door. Ash smiled as they walked down to the bus stop. Today was the day that everything would fall into place.

     "Hey!", said their best friend, Amanda. They turned around and smiled. Their best friend was right behind them, wearing a crocheted sweater vest and hippie pants. "Cool outfit. How long did it take to make it?". "Only 2 days", said Amanda, grinning. Amanda's passion was to make clothes and eventually she wanted to go to design school. She actually made Ash that very skirt they were wearing. "Okay, Amanda. I have a plan", Ash said. "Ooh, details, please" "Well", Ash began," It involves Ryan Tanner.". Amanda frowned."What's up", Ash said. "It's just, well, do you think it's safe? Ryan's dad is loaded and he keeps the school's profits up". Ash smiled. "This wont hurt him. Just get him suspended." "But how?", asked a very concerned Amanda. "Simple.I just need the GSA"

     As soon as the pair got to school, they ran into the building and into the gsa meeting. "Guys, we need your help." "For what?", said Asher, the guy in the hoodie. Asher was the schools local emo guy, with his eyeliner and black clothes. He came out as trans in seventh grade, and got a lot of shit for it. That, and the fact he was gay, highschool was a nightmare for him. But everything changed in tenth grade, when he started dating Leo.

     "Babe, don't be rude. What do you need, guys?", said the blond boy in the corner. Leo was like a golden retriever, blond and happy. He came out as bi when he hit puberty, but no one gives him a hard time because he was the school's golden sports boy. He played football, baseball, soccer and basketball, but he still had time to hang out with his boyfriend.

     "Hi, guys", said the dreamy voice coming from a pastel flowy robe thing. The voice belonged to Opal, the resident nonbinary, pan kid. E came out as soon as e went to highschool, and nobody used eir real pronouns. But as soon as e started the GSA, e were sold. Since then, e has created gender neutral bathrooms, all the teacher use eir pronouns and e started the GSA.

     "This is a nice surprise", said Maeve, the newest member. Maeve was a demi girl, and aro/ace. Ash would also say that Maeve was their closest friend, besides Amanda. Maeve was... complicated. Most people would describe them as a witch, with their long, velvet dresses and purple eyes, but in reality, they were super sweet and goth. "What brings you guys here?" "Well' Ash said, "we need to get back at Ryan Tanner. "BOOOOO!" said everyone. "Did I tell you that he tried to hit me yesterday?", said Asher. "What?",gasped Leo as he ran to his boyfriends side. "Did he hurt you?" said a very concerned Leo. "No, but he almost did. I went to the principal's office and they said that they don't have enough evidence.". Ash nodded. "Yeah, I punched him in the face last week". Everybody gasped and Opal said, "Badass"

     Ash blushed, as everybody congratulated them. "All right, enough!" they said as they sat down into a comfy beanbag chair. " I need to tell you guys my plan." "Yeah, I'm curious about that too" said Amanda as she stood by the door, arms crossed. "How do we stop him WITHOUT us getting in trouble?" "Simple, said Ash, "We catch him in action". "But how do we do that?", asked Asher finally getting away from Leos coddling. "What will we do?" Ash grinned. "We video him", Ash said. They hoped that everybody would be on board, and felt a sense of relief when the started nodding and smiling. "Let's do this!", said Maeve. "Go team!" said Leo and looked embarrassed as everybody turned to look at him. "Sorry.", he mumbled. Asher laughed and took his hand. "Let's figure out how to do this!". Everybody put their hands in, and said, "GO, TEAM!"
