As the plates were cleared away and the remnants of their meal sat forgotten on the coffee table, the conversation naturally drifted towards the upcoming wedding. Valentina and Mateo were positively glowing with excitement. Carlos and Viola though seemed slightly less enthused—mostly because they were already bickering about their respective roles in the wedding

"So, as best man, I've been thinking about the bachelor party," Carlos began, a smug grin on his face as he glanced over at Viola. "And I'm telling you right now, it's going to be epic."

Viola, who had been lazily scrolling through her phone, looked up with a raised eyebrow. "Epic, huh? You? Throw a party? I hope you're not thinking of just renting out a random bar and calling it a night, Martinez."

Carlos's grin widened, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, come on, Chiquita. Don't underestimate me. I know how to throw a proper party—one that people actually want to go to."

Viola scoffed, rolling her eyes dramatically. "Please, your idea of a proper party is probably just a bunch of guys sitting around watching a football match. I, on the other hand, know how to plan a real celebration. Something with style, elegance—"

"—And probably a tea party," Carlos interjected, his tone dripping with playful sarcasm.

Viola gasped dramatically, clutching her chest as if wounded. "How dare you! I would never—"

Carlos laughed, the sound deep and genuine, causing Viola to narrow her eyes at him. "Admit it, Lopez. You're all about the dainty finger sandwiches and polite conversation."

Viola grabbed a pillow from behind her and launched it at him, but Carlos caught it effortlessly, still grinning like a Cheshire cat. "I'll show you polite conversation," she muttered, her cheeks slightly flushed with a mix of frustration and amusement.

Valentina and Mateo, who had been watching the exchange with fond exasperation, finally intervened. "Alright, you two," Valentina said, her tone gentle but firm. "We've actually been meaning to talk to you both about the party."

Carlos and Viola both paused, turning their attention to the couple on the sofa. "We want to have a joint bachelor and bachelorette party," Mateo added, his eyes sparkling with delight as he watched the reactions of his two friends.

The room was silent for a moment, then simultaneously, Carlos and Viola groaned in protest.

"A joint party?" Carlos complained, his earlier bravado fading slightly. "That takes all the fun out of it!"

Viola crossed her arms, looking equally displeased. "Come on, Val. That's just...boring!"

Valentina shook her head, smiling patiently. "It's what we want, guys. We've always done things together, and we want our last big party before the wedding to be something we share with all our friends."
