"Andrea, please get in here," my mom grunted from the kitchen. I lifted my face off my sticky with sweat pillow and flopped out of bed. God, what happened to the air conditioner in this place? The house was hot and humid, turning my hair into a frizzy mess. I opened up the door to my room, and greeted my mom at the bottom of the stairs.

"What," I stammered at her, furious that she woke me up.

"Don't get snappy at me when you wern't doing your job," she said sarcastically. "Where were you Andrea, when you were supposed to be watching your 3 year old brother?," she added, glaring at me.

I stared at her like she was stupid.

"I was sleeping," I stated with a smirk that made her furious.

"Do you feel how hot it is in here Andrea, do you?!," my mom practically yelled.

"Yeah mom, what is up with that?," I asked walking into the kitchen to grab a snack.

"ANDREA, I AM SERIOUS, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!." This time my mom yelled sending a sharp pain to my head, causing a headache. I turned to look at her, without saying anything. She continued, more calm, but still furious. "When you were, um sleeping, instead of watching your brother, he shoved banana and cookie into the air conditioner circuts." I looked over at Mike, my little brother, who was now holding a crayon and eyeing up the wall.

"So now what, we don't have a working air conditioner?," I asked mocking her voice with the same sarcastic tone she gave me.

"I don't know, you tell me, you're the one babysitting," my mom said returning the attitude.

"Whatever," I mumbled and stumbled back up the stairs to my hot, sticky room.

"Your grounded by the way," my mom said smirking while looking at me through furious squinted eyes.

I threw my phone at her from on top off the staircase. I slammed my bedroom door shut and flopped back onto my bed and stared out my bedroom window to see moving trucks unpacking furniture and boxes into the blue house next to mine.
