Foam-prologue, part one

Peony doesn't know what she expected. But at least she was prepared.

Sure, coming out to your single mother as trans is not something that can't be easy-specially since she only knew because shes been eavesdropping on every conversation her children have, apparently-but at least he thought he would have a day or two so he can pack everything and go, especially since Lilith was out to a camp. But to leave immediately? That was something peony didn't prepare for.

Peony can't help but feel disappointed at this outcome, despite her mother's  favouritism, he thought that at least with that she could get away with it for a while, that she would just nod and not care for her daughter.

He rows a  now  borrowed (stolen, though he left money to pay for it)boat out to the west.Already thinking of what to do when reaching shore once again: Contact Lilith so she knows what actually happened and that he is safe, then change into better clothes with the money he had saved for a while. He would rent an apartment and live there for a while, maybe try and locate father, if he really is out there.

Hes always been ungrateful of her mother cutting his hair short. But the anger for it  rises as the sun  burns her nape.if only he brought Lilith's  ugly sunhat-

Something moved in the water.

Peony looks around,the land looks so far away from where he is, the vast sea dizzies him as he goes for the compass he found randomly in the house once. But the thing just moves around in no specific direction, damn it. He was sure these things worked on water!

"Shit..."

She looks at the edge of the boat, trying to make sense of what could it be that's out there, she notices something form in the water. Approaching...a tail, and... Legs?  No, it must be a mermaid, maybe. But they aren't territorial,yet it swims around like it's defending it's territory,is this one shy? Wait, can they even switch from  legs to tail?

"H-hey, i don't know what do you want.", Peony  hates how shaky she sounds as she speaks out loud, hoping the thing would hear her"But im only passing by, i mean no harm-"

The thing jumps out of the water, pinning him down with its arms, leg bent to place pressure on his neck.Peony feels water drops on her face, and closes them in instinct. It must be mad  at him, shit. that's the only answer to such strength pinning him down, even as he tries to fight it, it all in futile.

"...H-Hey, i swear i don't mean-i bring no harm. Just let me go and I'll be out of-"

"...Humans"

The creature's voice is strained, echoey in a way it reminds him of the dead.
She opens her eyes he realizes its looking up, eyes locked on whatever thing is there beyond him "You say you  mean no harm? Humans are following you" It eyes him carefully, squinting its eyes as it waits  for a response he can't give as he stares because why the fuck is she naked.and red.

"Uh..i don't know-i came here on my own"he breathes in and out,not used to someones face being so close. Peony tried to look up from his place to see what it means, but the creature stops him.

"You liar!"

The creature now starts to choke him for real, and at least thats good, cause it's hands are on her neck now, and  she tries to fend the thing off. Kicking it in the stomach(or trying to)

"Liar! Liar!" The thing cries as it keeps choking him,the voice now sounds like it's static, as if it comes from an old movie with the worst audio imaginable.

"I- I didn't lie!" She chokes, her hands on the creature's neck, she can't see its face covered by its own hair, Peony  looks aside to see more of it. How is this thing so strong? Their arms bear no muscle, not a single part of its body does. What the hell?"w-whoever they are- They're not with me, I promise!"
