Goddamn by Falling in Reverse
It's a short drive from where Luce and Izzy live to where the concert is being held in Raleigh.
She's fine for the majority of the car ride but as soon as she and Izzy pull up to the venue she can feel butterflies starting to flutter in her stomach. She sees all of the people just now starting to file into the venue. There's no telling how long some of them have been waiting to get those coveted spots at the front barricade. Again, Luce is thankful she spent a little bit of extra money so she won't have to fight anybody for a spot on the floor and be pushed and shoved all night.
Her sister pulls up on the road alongside the venue, finding she isn't allowed to go into the actual parking lot without payment.
"See," Luce says, pointing out the '$30 parking' sign. "This is exactly why I wanted you to drive me.""Sure," Izzy says back, rolling her eyes, though not unkindly. "You say that, but I know you really just wanted someone to help you hype yourself up before you got here."
Luce laughs, opening the door to the car.
"Maybe. You did a great job with both. Thanks for the ride, I'll text you when it's over and I'll get you some gas money when we get home, okay?"
Luce begins to step out of the car when Izzy catches her attention. "Hey, don't drink too much tonight and don't be stupid."
"Okay, Mom," Luce says and goes to shut the car door, but is stopped when Izzy speaks again.
"I'm serious." Izzy sharpens her tone. "You're alone, I can't be there to help you if something happens, so please be careful. And one more thing–"
Luce gives Izzy a look, gesturing with her head over at the people still filing in the door. "Iz, I gotta go–"
"You're the main character tonight," Izzy interrupts, and Luce feels her face soften a little bit at her sister's words.
Izzy continues, "You're the main character, so have fun, sing your heart out, and dance like no one's watching," she waves her hand over at the crowd of people going into the venue, "And don't worry about what any of these extras may be thinking, because by the end of the story, they won't matter all that much."
Luce sits back down in the car and gives Izzy a soft smile before gently grabbing her hand where it rests on the steering wheel.
"Thanks, Iz," she says genuinely. "I needed to hear that. And I'll be careful, I promise. When have you ever known me to be reckless? That's always been you."
"Don't even pretend with me," Izzy states, looking Luce dead in the face.
Luce feels her chest tighten when Izzy doesn't reciprocate her light mood and looks away from her fiery gaze. "Okay I get it. But I'll be fine, seriously."
Izzy tightens her grip on Luce's hand. "Just be careful and have fun, okay?"
Luce tries to ignore the solemn tone that's taken over her sister's voice.
She takes her hand out of Izzy's. "Alright, I'm going, I'll see you in a few hours, okay?"
"Sounds good," Izzy replies.
Luce lets go and gets out of the car. She shuts the door behind her and before she's even taken a step away from the car she hears the window rolling down with another quick "Hey!" from behind her.
She quickly spins around and makes an exasperated motion with her hands toward the venue. "Iz–"
"I'm gonna keep an eye on the band's social media!" Izzy shouts from the driver's seat, "I'll let you know if I see you in the crowd. I'll send it to you!"
