In shadowed depths, I find my peace,
Her colors blaze, too bright for me.

My phone buzzed again, the persistent vibration grating on my already frayed nerves. I glanced down, Rajveer's name flashing on the screen. I swiped the message open, feeling the usual irritation morph into something darker.

The last thing I wanted was to be dragged into more pointless drama.

What the fuck does he want now?

I stared at the message for a moment, my patience already wearing thin. Rajveer and his incessant need to protect his sister from the world was starting to get on my nerves.

He was always dragging me into situations I had no interest in. With a heavy sigh, I let my thumb hover over the keyboard, not bothering to filter my response.

Me: What the fuck is your problem, Rajveer? I'm busy.

I knew what was coming next. Rajveer had a habit of overreacting, and Rudransh wasn't far behind with his snide remarks. The phone buzzed again, and sure enough, Rudransh's name popped up.

Rudransh: Busy scowling at people?

I could almost hear the mocking lilt in his voice, the humor in his words meant to deflect from the tension that was bound to escalate. I ignored Rudransh for the moment, waiting for Rajveer's response. It didn't take long.

Rajveer: You fucker. What the fuck did you tell my sister?

There it was-the expected explosion. I leaned back, letting the darkness seep into my thoughts. Rajveer was too predictable. He had a hair-trigger temper when it came to his sister, and he always expected me to tread lightly around her. But I wasn't in the mood to play nice.

Me: I told her to get a boyfriend.

The silence that followed was almost palpable. I could imagine Rajveer's face, contorted with anger and disbelief. He always thought he could control everything around his sister, but the truth was, she needed to grow up and face the real world.
