Denki plopped down on the couch in the common room along with the rest of his friends. They had just gotten back from seeing a movie, and the conversation seemed to be flowing. Without Denki, of course.
The night had consisted of constant sideways looks at Kaminari from the rest of the group. They were telling him to be quiet any time he said a word, and, as always, forced him to charge all their phones the whole time. The group hadn't seemed to say anything when Bakugo or Kirishima started yelling, or talking through the whole movie.
Denki's stomach seemed to twist around as he prepared to confront them. He was finally taking Ojirio's advice. Mina and Sero were sitting side by side, laughing hysterically as Bakugo and Kirishima were arguing. Denki had been too busy overthinking to know about what, but Bakugo had small explosions shooting out of one of his palms, which was held up threateningly at Ejiro.
Once all the commotion calmed down, Denki worked up the courage to start talking.
"Hey, guys? Can I talk to all of you about something?" Everyone stopped their chatting and all eyes turned to him. All the confidence he had built up was shattered under their fierce gaze. It was like they were all judging him.
"I- uh-" Denki swallowed hard, his voice was shaking "I know I said it before but- Maybe could you guys stop teasing me so much?" Bakugo let out a snort
"MAN UP." He yelled out, and Kirishima let out a "tsk" accompanied by a smile upon his friends declarations
"I just-" Denki felt more crushed then he ever had. So much pressure was building up in him. He couldn't do this anymore. "Nevermind."
Everyone looked at him once more, then continued. Did he even matter?
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was the day Denki's parents passed. Three years ago.
It was 4 in the morning. Denki laid awake, remembering. Tears were streaming down his face. He hadn't been able to sleep
I wish they were still here
His mind was blank other than that single thought. All of his pain pushed aside to make room for memories and mourning. Nobody understood or knew what was happening. He was the only one who had to bear that suffering. Why was it him?
His parents had died in a villian attack. They were caught in a collapsing building while he was at school. He should have been there with him, he would rather have just died with them. They were all so close. Just the three of them. But now, he was all alone. Sure he had friends, and was doing well in the hero course, but he had lost the two most important people to him.
That incident was what drove Denki to be a hero. He was fueled by absolute rage and hatred towards villains. If it wasn't for them, he would still be happy
Denki, of course, hid all this. He always had. He had no reason to burden others. He didn't want sympathy, all he wanted was revenge.
All of his energy was sucked away by the throbbing he felt throughout his whole body.
I need to be away from it all.
And with that single thought, he hitched himself out of bed, and snuck out of the dorms. No goal or destination in mind.
