⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚。˚ ⋆"WELL IF IT ISN'T THE RETURNING CUSTOMER," Lily greeted with a smile as Lando approached the counter. She had her laptop set out on the small spot on the worktop in the back with her laptop; headphones; and the small, taped up sound board she'd bought off of Facebook Marketplace for £10.
He grinned at her, approaching the countertop with a new LP tucked under his arm. It was their routine at this point - Lando would come in for his daily latte art with a new album for the pair to listen to while they chatted about their lives. Lily would recommend Lando book's he would never read and he would yap about car things she would never understand, but would grin as he explained it with such joy all the same.
"Well I need my daily fix." He smiled, pushing the vinyl over the countertop for her to expect. It was from a popular artist Lando had never heard of, a single disk EP called 'how can i pretend?' by some people called 'Wasia Project'. It seemed like something Lily would like.
Lily smiled softly as she inspected the EP, as she did with everything Lando brought in, before pushing it back to Lando for him to unwrap and set up on their player. "I'll have to get on with your latte then, ay?"
She thought he had meant needed his coffee fix.
The machine she worked whirred as Lily flittered around the small workstation and Lando hovered over the sound system, willing it to work with him today.
Lily watched him fiddle with the temperamental equipment out of the corner of her eye while she decided what to make on his latte today. Everyday had to be different and everyday had to be perfect. She'd throw a fit and refuse to serve him the coffee until she remade it perfectly if she screwed up the design on it. She actually did once and he giggled quietly the full 7 minutes it took for her to make a new latte and create the art with the milk on top.
Lando had also taken to posting the lattes on social media. She always found it sweet when she got the ping on her phone that Lando had posted a picture mere moments after the door to the cafe had swung shut - sometimes he wasn't even out of her view before she received the notification.
It was funny to watch him struggle to find her on social media. He had asked for her Instagram so he could tag her on his post the second day he came in and she only smiled. He'd taken it as a challenge to try find her through the little information he knew and, hopefully, the sea of profiles in his likes.
She decided on a little octopus for his latte today, feeling in the mood for a cute little design today. The sound of a twangy guitar overlaid by a piano filled the empty cafe as the orange mug that Lily had dubbed the 'Lando Mug' hit the wooden worktop of the collection point.
A smile split across Lando's face. One which sent warmth to Lily's heart and made her stomach feel as if it were being run through a dryer. He pulled his phone out, protected by a McLaren phone case, and snapped a picture of the little octopus.
He fussed over the little design for a bit, complementing Lily's skill with the little metal jugs and cups while she blushed.
"So," He drew out, taking a sip of his coffee while leaning against the collection point. "What's all the stuff with the laptop for?"
"Oh it's usually quite slow on a Wednesday apart from when you're here, it's stuff so I can work on my music when I'm bored." She shrugged, sipping on the mocha she made for herself.
"You make music?" He asked, genuinely surprised while she smiled bashfully. She rubbed her pink painted thumbs together as her hands clamped around her own mug and Lando could've melted at how cute she was.
"Yeah, music's always been my thing."
"Can you show me it?" He asked, grinning at her like a small child. Lily froze, slightly panicked. She never ever wanted Lando to hear her music.
First of all, she was shit. She wasn't ready to be winning any Grammy's at this point, nevermind one person liking it. It wasn't a good song and she knew it, she just needed something of her own making to play at her shows.
Secondly, the song wasn't near ready. She had only just started putting her notebook thoughts into the software that morning and the main skeleton of the song had only just been erected. There was barely a beat to it at this point, never mind vocals.
Thirdly and lastly, the song was about Lando. She had been trying to write something less sad when Lando came into the Cafe with Max that day and it had all clicked into place from there. She never thought about him wanting to listen to it.
"It's nowhere near done," She excused, shaking her head. "I'm pretty shit anyway."
Lando grinned that grin, his fucking grin, like he didn't believe her. "You can't possibly be shit."
"Oh trust me."
"I'll annoy you about it until it's done, promise."
"For some reason, I believe you"
