Ruhani’s eyes fluttered open, the dim light of the room slowly coming into focus. Her head throbbed, and she could still feel the remnants of the panic that had overtaken her. She looks around and feels confused. 'Where is she's the thing is roaming on her mind.As she tried to sit up, a firm hand pressed her back down onto the pillow.

“Shh, Rooh,” Aryansh's voice was smooth, too smooth, as he leaned over her, his face masked with concern. “You’ve been through a lot. Just rest.”

His fingers brushed against her forehead, a gesture meant to be soothing, but the touch felt cold, calculated. Ruhani’s heart rate quickened again, a subtle unease creeping into her mind. Aryansh’s gaze was intense, almost predatory, as if he were studying her every move, every breath.

“You don’t need to worry about anything,” Aryansh continued, his voice lowering into a whisper. “I’m here for you, always. I’ll make sure nothing and no one ever hurts you again.” His hand tightened around hers, the pressure slightly more than comforting, almost possessive.

Ruhani forced a weak smile, her heart battling against the discomfort blooming in her chest. She wanted to believe him, to take solace in his words, but something wasn’t right. The room felt smaller, the air thicker. She tried to pull her hand away, but Aryansh’s grip only tightened, his smile unwavering.

“You don’t need anyone else, Rooh.. not anyone,” Aryansh added, his tone darkening just for a fraction of a second before his smile returned, warmer this time, but still… wrong.

A chill ran down Ruhani’s spine. The warmth she had once felt in Aryansh’s presence was now replaced by a growing fear. She wasn’t sure if it was the remnants of her panic attack or something far more sinister lurking beneath Aryansh’s gentle façade.

“Aryansh…” she began, her voice trembling, “Maybe… I need some space…”

“Yes take care of yourself jaan..I am here if you need me..I will come to check on you..after sometime and don't worry about your family I told them that you are with me in my penthouse ..okay.”  he said squeezing her hands slightly. Ruhani nodded slowly, though every instinct screamed at her to run. She felt like crying. He left her and went downstairs.

She stepped into the washroom, her mind a chaotic storm of guilt and confusion. She turned on the shower, letting the water cascade over her, soaking her skin. The drops of water slid down her body, but they did nothing to soothe the dryness in her heart.

Her soul felt parched, drained of all warmth and comfort. Guilt was the only thing she could feel now—a heavy, suffocating blanket that she couldn’t escape.
