At night, Leopardfur couldn't sleep. Frogleap, sleeping beside her, was jerked awake by her tossing and turning. "Sorry!" she whispered, nuzzling his head apologetically. "It's ok. Do you want to go for a walk?" he asked, twining his tail with hers. Breathing in his warm, comforting scent, Leopardfur nodded happily.
Making their way silently out of camp, they soon reached the river, where Sunningrocks was in view. "I wish ThunderClan didn't claim it," Leopardfur breathed into Frogleap's ear. Pressing his pelt against hers to calm Leopardfur, Frogleap led her to a wide, flat rock beside the water and lay down, motioning for her to lie beside him.
Leopardfur obeyed, sliding in beside him and surprised to feel it still warm. "It soaks up sunlight in the day," Frogleap explained upon seeing her astonished look. "Well, I love it here," she commented. "Me too...but I would rather have you," Frogleap purred, licking his cheek gently. The moonlight turned his dove-gray fur a shade of pale silver.
Twining tails, Leopardfur gazed up at the night sky. It's so beautiful!" she whispered. "Just like our future kits. They'll have your ferocity and my patience." added Frogleap. Leopardfur flinched."I'm sorry, Frogleap, but...I'm not quite ready yet, "she hesitated, looking deep into his warm amber eyes.
Disappointment showed in them, but the gray tom blinked it away. "It's okay, Leopardfur. As long as we can one day..." he murmured. Fresh love filled Leopardstar's heart as she purred, "We will, don't worry. They'll be as handsome as you too!"
Leaning back onto the sun-warmed stone, Leopardfur touched her nose to his, seeing his eyes close softly. Leaning backwards, Leopardfur pressed her fur against his, and staring at the serene night sky, gradually fell asleep with her mate.
