"Timing the Waves"

Samuel POV

The flickering lights can be seen outside the window of the coffee shop where I was hanging out. I was just sitting peacefully and warming my stomach while sipping a caramel latte that I ordered when the puppy sitting on my lap suddenly moved; it's the same puppy I encountered this morning.

It was still raining heavily outside, I had no choice but to go to the nearest clothing shop to buy clothes to wear because I was soaked from the rain. Till now I still can't forget what happened few hours ago.

"Why am I so unlucky today?" I said out of nowhere.

"Haist my phone and bag are still new I just bought it yesterday yet I lost it right away, What a troublesome." I comment on my own stupidity.

I turned my gaze to my lap to see a cute little puppy staring at me as if it was watching me for a while now.

"Are you hungry?" I softly asked while petting him.

He didn't bark or make any sound, but he just kept looking at me and gently stuck his tongue out. "Aigoo" I reacted.

"You're so tiny I wonder where your nutrients go." I commented, watching him closely. He was thin and his size is small compared to the size of a normal shih tzu.

Tomorrow is Sunday and its another long day for sure.

I smiled to myself as I remembered the mysterious woman this morning. "I would like to know her name someday." I stated while the smile on my lips still didn't disappear.

But it didn't last long when the incident occurred earlier came on my mind.

Flashbacks...

"Get ready we have a business to finish." I remarked, taking the whole situation seriously.

Ricky nodded, " 'looks like your boss will miss the best part." Ricky teasingly to the four guys while walking towards me a little. (The boss he was talking about is his enemy)

"Not bad." I praised him before becoming alert— Ricky did the same thing when the assholes stood up again and gave us a threatening looks while holding the part of their own body that showed where they hurt.

"Serves them right." Ricky smirked in response.

"Their stamina are no joke, you're so messy yet you can't even handle this situation alone." I stated, I couldn't help but to scold him at the same time.

"I know someone as bad as you." I added as I remembered my old friend.

I was distracted at that moment because I suddenly remembered my friend. His mischievous smile, his pure gaze and innocent face that seemed to be haunting me all the time.

Until I came back to my trance when someone pulled me backwards not realizing that one of the guys that was just in front of us was going to hit me with the pipe.

"Hey you almost got hit! Are you out of your mind?!" Ricky said filled with anger but tinged in concern.

"Oh that was close." I commented while adjusting my position to take a better angle and gave a 'it's my turn look' at the man who attempted to hit me earlier.

When he saw my gaze, he backed off and gave me a 'scared look.'

"B-bring it on!" He said trying to intimidate me but the fear was evident.

Without hesitation I let myself moved impulsively and gave a flying kick directly to his face after he spoke, causing him to lose consciousness.

"I didn't see that coming." Ricky said and gently patted my shoulder, I grinned and smiled before facing the other three who were caught off-guard because of what I did.
