He smiled at her. Lighting up the entire world as they walked to the training grounds. "Aren't you guys going to come too? Do you not have a match to win?" They do. They indeed did have a match they had no choice but to win. For her sake, they had to win.
If they didn't, then she would face the consequences she never wanted to encounter. The boys sat in the room carelessly. "Did you know not all bees make honey?" Eris did not know that. "Really?" The boy shook his head and laughed. It echoed throughout the room. Just like he did.
"Nope! I made it up. Got ya!" She sighed. What nonsense, really. Still, she didn't want him to stop talking for some reason. "Shut up." Bachira shrunk, dejected. "Don't do that." So sulky. "Okay, keep talking." Isagi laughed a little as he watched the two interact. Raichi merely scoffing at the sight of them both. "This ain't no love camp."
Always ruining the joy in the air. She sighed. "You can tell me what to do when you can get the ball to listen to you." He couldn't deny the fact that she was skilled. He couldn't deny that she had more control over this whole field than he's had over himself. He backs down to train.
They win the next match. She feels oddly accomplished by the way Bachira walks up to her beaming. His hands wrapped around her before she could even flinch. "Get off." She doesn't really mind that he's hugging her. It's more that she's not used to any form of affection in her life. A hug seems more as a threat than anything. "Sorry, Miss." Miss. "Eris." Bachira blinked in confusion. "My name is Eris. You can call me that."
Bachira's whole body lightened up. "Really? Just me? Only me! I'm so special!" How does one have the energy to be such a nuisance? She admires it so much. "Call me Meguru then! Or Megs! Or Meggie. Isagi calls me guru. I have a lot of nicknames." Meaning he has a lot of people in his life. The thought makes her feel almost envious of the growing amount of love he has. But at least she gets to be part of it.
"Okay, Megs." His smile invading her privacy in a way she couldn't even describe. It made her so pleasantly uncomfortable. Things were good in here. It was fun, a joy she never wished to remove. But when she'd desperately cling on to it like a child, there would always be people who hated small kids.
The buzzing of her phone. The way her whole body tensed at the name. "Ah, my sweet, sweet child." Fuck you. Fuck him. She hated the sound of his voice talking to her so patronisingly. "Ego just paid me. Aren't you happy to help your old man? We should celebrate." She didn't even know how to speak.
All eyes were on her. They'd never seen her so full of emotion. Despite the pure anger that she displayed, they humanised her. "That's okay. I'm glad I could help you, but I'm afraid I would be quite busy." A small laugh could be heard from the other end. "It wasn't a request. Don't be silly, child, I've missed you. Is it so wrong that I like to treat my things well?"
Thing. As if she wasn't even a person in body for in mind. "What? Because you think you're so divine for taking me in?" But the man didn't sound angered in the slightest. "Well, what would you be without me?" He was right. She would be nothing without him. "Happy." The only word that could escape her lips. "Happy without you."
She was sure her actions would have consequences, but what? What weakness did she have? "You gonna leave your old man?" Her teeth gritted. "Fuck you." Anger. All anger. "Gladly." And there it was – the familiar feeling of disgust that always arose when near him. She couldn't even respond before her hands hung up.
Isagi was the first to comfort her. "What's up? Are you okay?" He was so taken aback when a phone flew through the air. The sound of it cracking abruptly. Shatters of glass spreading across the whole room. "Eris...?" The confusion laced in the boys words. But she wasn't there.
Not mentally, at least. She walked through the shards of glass so effortlessly. Her shoes being the only thing that protected her from the shards. But nothing could protect her heart. Not even when a shard pierced her foot, the white now stained with her blood. "Fucking hell." She bent down to pick up her phone even as it pricked her skin.
The sim card entering her hand before she dropped it back unto the floor. "Guess I need a new phone." Bachira blinked again. "Eris?" His voice causing her to enter back into this world. "Fucking hell, Megs. Shits really bad, you know?" Nobody really understood it. They didn't understand anything but the fact that whoever she called with was horrible.
Horrible enough to affect her. "Times like this, I really need Shoei." Isagi looked confused. "Shoei Barou?" She nodded. "Yeah, he's my... he's just him." Bachira didn't understand why his heart clenched so tightly. "Him?" She shrugged. "Known him since forever, really." Bachira frowned a little. "Do you.. like him?"
All she could was laugh a little. "Like? Tell me, Meguru, what does that mean? I can't say, really. It's simple. He's just him to me, and I'm just her to him." She glanced at her hands. Lowering it as the red liquid dripped onto the floor. "Oh, it's bleeding." She sighed. "What a load of bullshit this place is." Before anyone could speak, she just walked out.
Other than the mutual confusion, one other feeling sparked in the heart of one boy. Concern.
