If only it had worked...

Deep down she wished she was sorry, but she just wasn't. And why? Because the scars which were once coldly engraved on her body became permanent. And the reminiscence, trapped in her mind, made no effort in fading away to free her from the chains of numbness holding her captive. Hence having no other choice but to give in to that suffocating feeling of craving revenge.

The numbness accompanying her throughout her undesired runway could no longer be felt. She formed a soft smirk as the horde of crows flew away after detecting the alternating color sirens which rapidly overran the night sky. In a matter of seconds, a dozen engines roared against the fury of the wind, and almost instantly, the stomping of boots and barking of german shepherds sounded in unison to the marching of agents.

Eventually, her head rose and the light blue in her eyes was replaced by a gloomy navy as the last spark of humanity within her disappeared, allowing her to sense her targets.

"Harley Cooper, the entire perimeter is surrounded and the only entrance blocked. Leave the gun on the floor and put your hands in the air. We have direct orders to shoot"

Five.

Four.

A hand rest on her shoulder. "You can stop running now, Cooper"

Three.

Then it clicked: why anyone else, when she existed?

Two.

"Oh, but, where's the fun in that?"
